rivet eliminator kit question.

American sportbike sells this kit and I was wondering if anyone has bought one or done this without buying it and if so what size screws did you use to replace the rivets on the chin fairing. I ask because My chin fairing on my bike now is in good shape and the one I recently bought has a messed up center piece but the sides are good so I am going to use the center piece from my original one and the sides from the other one I have and obviously I will need to take the rivets off to do this so instead of replacing it with more rivets I would just rather replace them with some sort of screws however I just cannot see paying $15 for some little screws I can probably get at a hardware store for $5. There isn't a specific size needed. I don't remember the size of the thread, but I know I needed 1/2" long. I went to home depot and got rounded hex head screws that look similar to the fairing T27 screws. I got washers and locknuts to fit. I think it cost me something like $6
As long at they fit in the whole, thats all that matters.
