Rocker Cover Gasket

Hey guys,

I recently just purchased an 07 XB9SX and I new i was going to have to replace the rear rocker cover gasket, I've read (Wiznut)Rotate Engine Thread and that is going to be very helpful when I go to tackle this job, I have two questions, while I'm in there is there anything else I should check and who's gasket should I use to complete this, factory gasket or an aftermarket, any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

ASB has them, second kit from the bottom #17196:

also James gasket sets and Cometic sets excellent as well. i see them on fleabay at good prices.

I wouldnt replace it OEM. HD gaskets seem to be made of rice paper.

Placed order @ ABS is there anything else you guys can think of i should do while i have all this apart?

Cant comment on the brand but when I we put rocker cover gaskets on Dodge Cummins we freeze them first. This might help on the Buell too.

I got my upgraded gasket set from my Harley dealer,they were the new style not the oem,those are very cheaply made.

The ones @ ABS state: Modern rubber over steel variety, is this the good ones?

Joel,they are new black upgraded ones from my dealer,they came with not only the cover gaskets but complete rocker box assemblies and various cover gaskets for other models of the buells.

Check to make sure your push rod o-rings are good. Just got done fixing mine from a bad dealer install.
