Ok I have seen a few people have these helmets. I was initially looking at the Icon Variant until I saw the Roof Boxer V8. Guys that have them can you chime in on your thoughts? How have they held up? I have heard if your in rain that it will run inside of the visor? Would you buy one again???

I am not a modular or Icon person, but if I had to pick it would be the Icon.

I know modular helmets are made to not open unless manually opened, but I would never be able to get past the fact that if I was in a accident the chin guard could break or lift up exposing my jaw. Just my .02.

I got one and love it its comfortable and well built the chin has snaps that take a little getting used to. It is a little loud and ive heard they suck in the rain. Beter helmets are avalible for the price your gonna pay and it isnt dot approved but i look like a freakin alein so ftw! I love mine and love not seeing anyone else rockin one.

Cool lid. Reminds me somewhat of the old Simpson Bandit, but I've HEARD, that they're noisy and buffet like a madman. Add the fact that no DOT sticker will get you a ticket (in any state that gives a **** anyway). I know, I know, add your own DOT sticker and nobody's the wiser...jmo

I would get eaten alive trying to ride with a non DOT helmet on the military base! Damnit, I guess it will end up being the Varriant! I just like the European enduro style so much more!

If your trying to lecture me or say this helmets not safe . The european standard or ece exceeds dot in alot of ways the only thing dot does they dont is a multi impact test i guess. So this helmet is still as safe as a dot helmet its just made in france and not sold or marketed in the states so they dont test it with our standards.

My big concern is they are not snel approved Europe has there own certification, would hate to get hassled!

Have you ever had anyone check the certifications of your helmet?

Cool lid, want it too.
specially the roof boxer v8 black shadow and the newest roof desmo [up]

Are Roof helmets DOT / Snell approved?

This is what webbikeworld said: We have a copy of an independent Snell testing laboratory report from 2003 for a ROOF Boxer that passed the Snell requirements for motorcycle helmets.
We are absolutely not saying that the ROOF Boxer V meets Snell standards; all I'm saying is that a single original Boxer was sent to an independent certified Snell testing lab in 2003 and it passed the tests required for Snell certification.
I have no more information but I can tell you that the helmet passed the retaining system, chin guard and penetration tests, among others.

Yes, while they'll sell to the US, I don't see why they'd pay a bunch of money for a certification in a country where they probably do very little business.

On the other hands, as I said before. When was the last time someone wanted to see the certifications of your street helmet?

European safety standards are way better than the standards here in the US.

If it came down to it, I'd choose an ECE helmet over snell or dot.
