Rough starting

Have an issue with my starts. Fires up great and sounds like it is doing what its supposed to but then dies after 5 seconds.
Fire it up again and have to hold the throttle for a bit for it to catch.
Idles at 960 to 1075, running ngk iridium 9s, last mapping was done by xopti back in May.
Took it out for a run and it runs sweeeet once its warmed up, no issues.
Pluged it in to the spy and showed an AFV value of 95.7.
Smells rich on start which i guess is to be expected. SOMETIMES have an issue on second start once riden but not always.
Anyone have any ideas why i am having this issue on start?

Sounds like the cold start enrichment may be off. Compare the values xopti has in there with the stock values, maybe something is amiss. I noticed when he did mine the added a bunch of fuel to the hot-start start side of the enrichment tables.

Just turn off idle closed loop enable in the ecm config page. Its just choking off the motor when it switches to closed loop during idle. You can watch it do it in spy. Plug the bike in put in the overview page, crank it up and watch the little box that pops up telling you when your in open or closed loop. It will be green and just before the motor dies it will switch to closed loop. I have had mine off for six months now.

My 08 did the same ,I did the tps reset and it improved.It should smell rich at start up,thats a good sign.Ive done the reset three times.Always when the weather has changed from hot to cold and vise versa.Any its worth a shot.
