Need to change my oil...from what I hather royal purple is all the rage. Is it synthetic? How carries it? I think I am specifically looking for Royal Purple Max-Cycle 20W50. I am hoping it is decent at repairing small leaks, one recently developed and I am having the hardest time tracing it down! Thanks.

Search the forum and you will get mixed emotions.

RT Performance has a big thread on it.

20w50 max cycle is what I have been using since I've had my bike. Works well in both motor and primary. The bike runs way cooler, smoother and shifts way better than usining harley synthetic.
Synthetic oils will not seal leaks. Unless it has additives to swell seal and gaskets (stp type stuff..) it won't seal leaks. Unless you're tryin' to sell a p.o.s. real quick, don't use oil additives on something you value.
RP, Redline, Mobil. Lucas are all good lubricants for your machine. Just make sure that you use the correct oil in the correct hole.
Take some time and use the search funtion on this site. You have access to an amazing amount of information and experience here.
Cheers

RP Max-Cycle 20W50 is a general consensus winner for both "holes". You can get it at most any major Auto Parts store, got mine @ O'Reillys. But, be aware, most if not all will have to order at your request.

Napa has it i use to swear by it but .... I will be burning Mobile 1 20-50 vtwin 4 dollars a quart less.
i am sure theres a reason it the only oil reccomended for corvette and Viper

i just tried to order royal purple at schucks-oreilly and they are no longer able to order it.
