I have a white and blue/ blacked out 09 firebolt. What is the best thing to use all over the bike to keep the black from drying out or fadeing? Is there one product that can be used on the swingarm, seat, black exhaust can, black plastics, black frame, Blacked out motor, basicly everywhere? [confused]

Can I use Armor all on everything?

I have used a product called back to black on most trim stuff but dunno how it would work on some parts... also a product called cling... But i would be careful not to use some things on the seat or your new seat might be the ground behind your bike

ok, I havent used anything yet. Thats why im asking. This freezing is going to dry it out bad. What would you suggest I use?[confused]

You can use armorall on the black plastics such as headlight bazels and air scoops.

I use this on everything else including my wheels.

I clean my tires with a very light coat of lacquer thinner on a rag.

I use Plexus on everything[up] It cleans the plastic real nice and does well against light dirt on the wheels, frame, swing arm etc:

they're making this new product called "simoniz" or something. once u put it on its on 4-life.

i'll get the facts later but, its made to put on brand new paint, where anything thats on the
paint is there 4-good. basiclly a 2nd clear coat of sorts.

if u put it on plastics its supposed to protect it too.

also: i use degreaser; i wipe it on pretty thick & it keeps the black, black for a good while

I want to try this:

Muc-Off Nano Tech Bike Cleaner

It leaves behind a protective layer that prevents corrosion and prolongs the bike's factory finish. Muc-Off is safe for use on anodizing, paintwork, carbon fiber, rubber, disc brake pads and more

muc-off

they also have alot of other gimmicky products I want

I repeat DO NOT USE ARMORALL!!! I have used it on a couple cars and one bike, and I will never use armorall again!! it will crack the plastic you are putting it on. I had the dash on my cadillac and corvette crack because of it. and also the seat and gauge plastics on my bike. at first I thought it was some unfortunate coincidence, but then I purchased some leather from an upholstery shop and tested it again and the same thing happened. I told the owner of the upholstery shop and he told me that he knew, and has never used it since. if you want that armorall look I would suggest meguiars. I haven't had any problems with their items. but do not put it on your seat! it will make it WAY too slippery.

If you want to keep plastic from drying out or sun fading, use black magic TIRE black, or WD40, (anything with a high silicone content)... I have used these two products for years and they work great! Oh, dont EVER use any thing on your seat or tires!

Pledge is the best/cheapest in my opinion. Use it on everything but the tires! Buy a 3 pack at Sams for $10.00[up]

I read somewhere a horror story of someone whose bike was used in a photo shoot. The photog ass-istants used armorall on HIS TIRES, and the poor guy wiped out as soon as he got his bike back and turned a corner. I'd stay away from the armorall anyway, and also be careful of spray products, just because of overspray onto areas you mght not want the stuff to sit.

Yeah that horor story was a post on here (not going to dig it up right now)but I read it too. I think Dave XB even offered them legal representation LOL.

ALWAYS spray onto rag then wipe to apply. ;)

Yeah old roomy used black magic on his seat one time cause he wanted the bike to look nice when he picked up his date... He left came back 5 min later to get his car. Said he had to stand up the whole ride cause every time he did anything but maintain a constant speed in a straight line he would slide causing him to tighten up and accidently give it more gas making him slide more

For blacks: peanut butter. Seriously.

For stuff like your motor, I would just use peanut oil in a spray bottle.

I use peanut butter on my car's black stuff all the time. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but I finally gave in to curiosity. Works great.

I checked this out at the dealership today. I mentioned that someone said they used it on everything and the parts guy went crazy saying that it should ONLY be used on plastics. I don't know why, but he seemed mad about that.
