Been told my bike is running hot... anyone got a cure??
Temps here in Vegas are 110+ so i'm guessing that might not help but any info would be great.

- Full Synth. Engine & Primary oil (if you don't have it already)

- Right side scoop

- Custom tune will help a lot also

check your oil level. My friend was shocked to find his hot running bike was a little too low...

its in the shop right now and thats what i have been told
Oil was top of level and is in for a leak from the stator plug again
Its been xoptied and has the right air scoope and as i said before Vegas is 110+ right now
Thanks for the help lads

Just install a custom heat shield blanket from Special OPS. It completely solved excessive heat coming from the right hand side of my Uly.:D

im in vegas and mines fine.
(my tune though)

what year/model?

what shop is it at now? how do they know its running "too" hot? is the engine light flashing? did they pull codes?

down at las vegas harley. Got a call the other day have not picked it up yet will find out more later.
Just wanted to find out what i could do when i get it back.
I have a 2005 XB12S

lemme know when you get it back what they said.

whos your service writer?

is the bike stock?

The guy working on my bike is a kid called Johnny... nice guy.
Went in for an oil leak from the stator plug... second time that has happend, possible injector leak and a worn grommet from the rear cylinder for the breather.
Bike is far from stock..... drummer, drilled inner airbox and snorkle removal, K&N, had XOPTI do a couple of maps, changed out the bars, grips and leevers, did the headlight mod, right airscoop, cheese grater eliminated and subframe raisers.

whats making him say its running hot?

my lady is a manager over there. so i know a few of the guys.

OK, bike is back at $600 and change.
Went in for oil leak which was coming from the stator plug, so a whole new stator was replaced, 4 of my gaskets replaced... needed the rear cyclinder grommet replaced (something i needed checking).
NOW- about the running hot issue.... Thought i might have had a leaky injector (responses from this site about an idle issue i was having after first start) problem couldn't be found but a theory was put forward at the shop that the bike is cooling down to a certain point due to the fan after shut down but as our temps here in Vegas are hitting 110 to 115f the bike is heating up again so when i go to start its throwing in more fuel to cool it down on the start and once running ( talking about 3 to 5 mins ) it sorts itself out and back to normal running.
So thats what i found out.
Thanks for the input lads.
GBALIAS- may be see you around at Red Rock some time.

its still not right. mine doesnt do that at all.

get it hot/cool down

enough to where the problem at startup is happening again. replicate the scenario......

when it does, have ECMSpy open and in Comm to the ECM. Note the engine temp sensor reading.

go into the other maps page where the temp enrichment table is.

you can then reduce the fuel at that temp to where you still get a good EGO value when you go to restart it. youll need to interpolate the temp values if its not listed exactly at your problem temp in the table.

this should fix the problem. adjust minor changes 1st.....slowly....and back up your original EEPROM on the bike now.

thatll be $599. haha ;)
