Running on 1 cylinder.

G'day all, I just bought a 2010 XB12R, 2 days later I am on the rear cylinder only, picking a fouled plug one that...I'll get that out soon.

However while only running on 1 cylinder, the rear one, its exhaust was glowing red, it was hot hot. Why would that be?

at night you will the the exhaust red.... although once you're moving it should cool down enough to stop glowing. I can't see mine as it's wrapped but i've seen other bikes do this. I don't think it's too odd.

because the rear cylinder is doing "double-duty" and spiking the exh. gas temps to the moon. you also put a tremendous strain on the motors' internals by doing this.

OK, understood..
It just happened on the way to work today and we noticed it glowing whilst warming up. Got the bike home slowly and I'll check the plug out on the front after work tomorrow.
