So I have found bits and pieces in other threads about nasty front pulleys. I've been going through as many nooks and crannies and removing rust from where the previous owner left it sitting uncovered. I think the last thing I need to fix is the pulley... and man is it nasty. I was wondering if anyone had any good tips for doing this without removing the pulley. Its not ony on the front but the teach too (its left a little orange residue on the inside of my belt) Any experience with Rustoleum rust reformer?[confused]

The reality of the fact is that most are rusty because they're just fine that way.

If you really want to fix it, pull it off, powder coat it, and slap it back on.

Another option is to leaf it. A user on either this forum or Buelletinboard covered his with variegated gold leaf, and it turned out pretty well.

I put my drive sprocket in muriatic acid for about 3 hours and it cleaned it up. The sprocket had a protecting coat on it at one point, but it wears off of them all. I was going to paint mine with some enamel, where the belt touches it I expect it to wear off anyway. The rubber residue before kept it from rusting.
