Hello Buell owners family,

I have a question that a few of you have already asked as I've done research my own but I am stuck and need some opinions since there's some back story behind it.

You haven't read anything from me so far since I haven't had a lot of trouble at all with my xb12s so far.

I am currently owning a 2009 xb12s cherry bomb red, got a HSA sports exhaus, pipercross airfilter and modified ECU to get that Euro3 hole at 4500-5500 rpm's out of the system. I am very happy with what I currently have.

BUT:

I have a GF in Canada (me, born and living in Germany) and we are planning for me to move over. Since transport Canada is kind of a bit** to deal with it simply doesn't allow me to import any kind of motorized vehicle into the country if it is not in brand new condition and was basically bought for improting, was never registered in Canada before or is not 15years and older. This all because it has to meat the requirements to meet to be allowed to be driven on canadian roads https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehiclesafety/safevehicles-importation-other-than-index-446.htm
So I pretty much have no choice but to leave mine behind and get one over there or wait until it's 15 years old and then import it. Knowing me though waiting for so long will be frustrating.

And that's where I am stuck right now. Buell being quite rare in Canada is already frustrating since they're not getting younger and the s seems as rare as diamonds in my wallet.
I found one online that is in superb condition, has below 5000km and is, except the exhaust, factory (a carbon part here and there, seller would give me the original parts though).
But it's the scg model.

Having read a few threads here of people talking about it being too low and too hard scared me a bit honestly, but those people were always much heavier than me and taller and some others were just blown away by the increased turning performance of the scg.

I am 63kg (141lb) naked and about 1.78m (5.8ft) tall. I am driving for over 10 years already and I can call myself an experienced rider having owned a variety of motorcycles, naked and supermoto. I am not one to does wheelies or stoppies anything like that, I drive for driving and not for stunts.

I am planning on this being a motorcycle for rides to work, but also for longer tours with my gf on the back (she sat on the s for 6 hours straight and it wasn't a problem, I know that there are additional butt pillows out of gel to make it more comfortable, that's not what it's about though). Since there are speed limits, the shorter wheelbase and center of gravity might come in handy. I know about it's reduced space to the ground and that the distance between seat and foot rests can be painful but can be fixed with a s saddle.

I'd be happy to hear your tips and opinions about this, I would really appreciate it.

Some eye candy to finish this up.

cheers

Your height, I think you'd be just fine! If you want\need more space in the knees, a higher seat is cheap and easy to come by (and more comfortable). If you needed more room even after the seat swap, lowering pegs could give you one more inch, too. Also cheap.
Seats would be the same for your s and scg (for the girlfriend); ss would give her a bit more room.

I think the SCG would be great for you. Have you seen it in person yet? I kinda dig how low the SCG's are, especially after seeing AZMidgets. Makes me want to lower my SS.

Here is my SCG sits too low for me ,I am 5' 11" 12scg.jpg,so I put a high seat on it.2005.jpg

No problems with CG suspension on my R, I'm 6'1. If those pictures you posted in your first post are yours, you must have fat fingered it because that's a 08.

Well it's build in year 2009, but first registered in 2008.
it's like me saying I am 26 yo but I am in my 27th year of living.

There was no 12S in 09, there was only the 12SCG/12Ss/9SX. Your forks, frame, swingarm, engine, subframe would all be black as well. That is a 08 I would check your build date again.

Yeb , just like 09 said , that bike is a 08, 09s went black. do your home work.

I have an 08 Scg. I'm 5'10" and right now 180 pounds (going to 170 though). I have no problems with the bike. Is the seat a little hard? Yeah....but if that's a big deal you can find an S seat on ebay for about $100. The bike definitely don't feel too "low" for me. No issues at all. The riding position is super comfortable....probably one of the better bikes I've had in that regard. I wouldn't let an inch here or there concern me too much.

I have seen the rear shock drilled to mount lower in the swing arm to make it even lower.

Okay then it is a 2008 but in the end it's not what did conversation is about (first registered in 2007). I really appreciate all the replys to my question and I'll think I'll go for the scg then.
Thank you again very much guys!
