I aquired a set of bars off of a xb12r today. I was wondering if anyone has already done the swap and if so how do you like the stance.

I have an R and personally like the riding position better, but with that being said it all depends on the rider. You will be putting more weight on your arms and hands though.

A ton of people here have done the swap, from stock S parts to stock R parts, as well as various other bars that give you a similar position. There's a writeup around here somewhere that shows in detail how to mount them. As far as the stance, that's all up to you. I'm way more used to clipons, but I'm trying to get used to upright bars. I still think clipons are way more comfortable and make the handling feel so much better, but at the same time they also make me want to ride a lot faster, so I've been sticking with more upright bars for the sake of my driving record.

If you don't like sitting upright and feel like you'd appriciate a more stable front end you'd definitely like the R bars.

The top tree and bars are all on piece. So I got both. Ill do some searching and see if I can find that write up. Thanks

You also need to swap out the throttle cable as it is doffernt in length just slightly, if you don't swap them they wil tend to bind up.

I did the conversion. It is time consuming if you want it to look good. Definitly not for the unskilled fabricator. Checkout the write up on here. It's got good info. I made a bracket to make the front end a little more stable than in the write up. I definitly prefer the riding position of the R bars. Good luck.

I did the same conversion from that writeup as well. It's works great and I love it. You don't need different throttle cables. Just drill holes in the side of the instrument fairings to route your throttle and clutch cables behind the fly screen. I drilled and tapped threaded holes in the top triple instead of gluing in the rivots to hold the instrument cluster.
