Sad ending to these bikes

What the hell happened to all the bikes in the dumpster?

That pic has been making the internet rounds for quite awhile now. I believe the story is they are all non-vin number test bikes. Unable to be sold etc. Not even for the parts, because that's what they are 'testing'.

I saw a few 1984 Vettes crushed, in 1983...
