And my friends call me crazy when I put on the ninja turtle outfit when I ride no matter what temp or how far I am riding.

Glad ur still alive and heal up fast!
X2
Damn U are lucky . Looks juicy But U will heal

Thats nasty man,did you slide far,or did you get stuck under your bike. That going to be a painfull recovery, all the best [up]

Im pretty sure I slid less then 30ft. I think it was the force that I hit that was the worst part. I did have gravel stuck in the bone that they had to remove. Once again, I was lucky not to break anything. Its pretty painful from time to time but the worst part is sitting in this room every day. I want to just go home and start ordering parts and fixing my baby back up. Luckily my girl drives up every day to see me and a buddy rode out yesterday to visit. The hospital is almost two hours from where we all live. I appreciate all the words of encouragement and I hope to be back out there with you guys soon

Well that sucks. I hope you heal fast.

Your knee is pretty bad. Were you wearing shorts or jeans? How fast were you going?

My knee is fine. That's just another angle of my elbow. The only other details were that the road I was onn has been having some construction done. I have been watching it and going by really carefully. It had been pretty clean but there was just a huge patch of gravel across the road on one of the corners. It almost looked intentional but who knows. Even going right at or maybe a little under the speed limit knowing it was messy, there was absolutely nothing I could do and no way around it. I have heard stories of kids or just assholes throwing shit out on corners to see what happens but who will ever know if that was the case

When i was 8 i wiped out on a mini bike doing about 20-25 on pavement wearing a helmet, shorts, a t-shirt and tennis shoes. I got both elbows, knees, my right wrist, left knuckles, and the back of my left calf somehow. I picked the bike up and walked home crying. i still remember how much that hurt, and i know i cant imagine how much pain you are/were in. Definetly getting better ridding gear now. Sorry for your pain and frustration, and hope all goes well for you man. Nick

I wrecked my first bike about a month after owning it, and was wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and skate shoes and a helmet... I had road rash from the tops of my feet (shoes fell off in wreck)up to the tops of my knees on both legs, on palms of hands (no gloves), fore arms to my elbos on both arms, and my right shoulder and lower back.)

I was 16 at the time, and pre-occupied with a loose mirror while going around a corner. The guy in the truck behind me helped me get the bike on the sidewalk and took me to the hospital around the corner.

I nearly scared my dad away from riding after 30 years of wreck free motorcycling as he came to pick me up and saw me all bandaged up like a mummy. It took my mom over an hour and a half to change my bandages the next day and I still had to sit in a bath for a while to get the "non-stick" pads unstuck from the tops of my feet and legs.

It hurt like hell for a while, but Here I am 10 years later, still riding and always wear my gear. ALWAYS...

I learned a hard lesson, just like you did I am sure! but glad that you are still here, and not spooked. Heal up

Glad your ok AV! Thanks for posting to remind us all the importance of proper PPE(Personal Protective Equipment)! I was just thinking this morning I would ride when I get home even though I dont have my jacket, and my brakes need a little work, and clutch needs adjusting, so on and so on! I will now be waiting till I can get the gear and ensure my bike is 100%!!!! Speedy recovery!!!

glad to see your ok man! the same thing happened to my brother a couple years ago in his mustang and it almost killed them.. my friend danny was thrown from the front seat to the back seat and blinded in one eye for 6 weeks and the trunk was between the 2 front seats. i dont know how my buddy survived not being smashed by that tree but they both walked away.. just goes to show you you never know what can happen, always wear your gear and always wear a seatbelt. my fiancee used to get mad at me when i would reach over and click her in but after she had that wreck she was thankful she buckled it by " habit " ;)

This kinda shit makes me cringe...

I always wear my helmet, armored jacket and gloves, but lately I've been a little complacent to wear my armored pants... This is going to change. I'd much rather have a case of swamp ass than be in the ER

Heal up quick brother. [up]

good that's all you have...

remeber, there isn't a trip short enough not to wear your protection!

heel well, ride soon! [up]
