read KEITH CODE book; read it every spring before I start riding. just a good refresher. I had something similar happen this weekend where I got a little jitter in both front and rear mid turn. rider input error for sure...just haven't determined which one yet!

I have a friend who attended one of Keith Codes classes and seminars. Thought it would be good to learn and take the class. However this friend (Steve) has some very unusual ride techniques, long time rider (35 years in the saddle) and also Steves theory's are a bit unorthodox to the uninitiated. So Steve brought up some of this stuff, Not to walk into the class and say "I can do it better" but simply "What about this?" It became disruptive to the flow of teaching the rest of the class and finally i heard Keith Code challenged Steve to put up or shut up and demo their skills out on the course. The thought was,,,,,,It would never work, Well,,,,,,Steves techniques DO WORK,, not recomended for the masses but it works for him. So after the demo and contest, Keith Code said "Off with you" and kicked him out of the class, refunded his money.

I totally get why he did it,, if trying to teach something its really disruptive to have something else being shown or demoed at the same time.

But on the other hand,,,,,I always have found it highly amusing my friend Steve was kicked out of Keith Codes riding school.

But if you are ever in Arkansas,,, and see some crazy guy on a skinny tired Norton kicking ass on fat tire sport bikes, walk up and introduce yourself to Dr. Steve Shriver,, aka "Hobot". If you have mysterious injurys, back problems, joints, or illness and conventional medicine cant help, go see Dr Shriver, he is the Dr House of the real world. Amazing guy.

probably hit a patch of sand/dirt/gravel that he just didn't notice
^^This would be my guess too^^.

You’re certain you actually lost traction and that your suspension is dialled in? Sometimes I find that soft compression coupled with too much rebound damping can make the rear end feel like it’s beginning to slide if an irregularity is encountered mid turn.

The XB’s power delivery is so linear that erratic throttle control seems an unlikely cause. The XB’s are VERY forgiving in this regard.

Likewise, the XB’s rear brake is so weak that the rider would really have to be jabbing at it to cause a rear slide. Again, it doesn’t seem a likely cause to me.

Michelin Roads may not be track tires, but they most certainly do not behave as unpredictably as the OP experienced either. Street tires simply don’t break loose on clean pavement, even when ridden at aggressive road speeds.

Of course we're all speculating here, but assuming your suspension is tuned, I’d chalk this one up the unpredictability of road conditions and take away the lesson to leave a margin for error accordingly.

Lost the back tire of my XB12SCG at the track this weekend. Was having fun and pushing it a bit, working on hanging off the bike and carrying speed through the turns. I applied a bit too much throttle through the turn and lost the back end. Good thing I was wearing my leathers.

I have slid on a single stone in the roadway coming around the corner. .also a small slick spot of antifreeze or a lubricant can make the rear loose. just chalk it up to many factors . recheck your setup. push it again. figure it out. you slid once you can do it again. your just finding a limiting factor. i spun a 180 driving hot in a McDonald parking lot Damn french fry grease.I'm not kidding . you kept it up thats main thing. good show
