Has anyone ever swapped out the suspensions? I have an Scg and would like to raise it up. I'm guessing front forks, rear shock and sidestand?

Anyone need Scg suspension?

Jim

I'm working on it now. Mine is a 9sl and I'm looking to make it a normal S. Damn front wheel is too heavy on the lowered model!

A lot of people here have done it though, both ways, scg to normal, and normal to scg. Pretty straight forward swap.

Wavex and I just did the swap. If you go with a '03-'05 R/S fork you can swap just the stand, forks and rear shock. If you go with the newer R/S forks you will need to swap the lower triple clamp as well since the newer forks have a larger diameter tube.

were the forks 41mm all the way up to 05? I knew it would be easier if I found the earlier years to swap my 03, but I thought my only choices were 03 and 04. Good to know I've got 05 going for me too!

I have s suspension available for anyone who wants it along with the side stand. Pm me and make me an offer. It's from a 03 9s. I just lowered my bike and thaws are just laying around. It's just all the springs. Let me know.

tseldon: Are you saying the differences between the forks is just the springs, or all you have is the springs? I might be interested if you have the actual forks(already have the longer sidestand and blue shock). From what I've heard you can shorten the S suspension to the SL/Scg by changing the springs, but you can't lengthen the SL stuff with longer springs. I'm just going by word of mouth on that one though.

Ive been looking for a practical way to raise my 08 scg for a long time. The easiest way,is swap the forks with s,or r models.the other way is to rebuild scg forks w/ s, springs, and dampning rods. I had a parts guy check, and they are the only part numbers that differ from s or r components. Its been over a year since I checked, but the price came to aprox. 370.

Yeah that's way too much, you can get a hole extra pair of forks for that price, and swap back and forth all day long at 30-45 minutes per suspension swap, plus no need to replace the fork oil every time.

I've been thinking of putting Scg suspension on my bike. I'd like to do a direct swap rather than mailing stuff.

but you will probably loose even more travel than you would with sl/scg forks
