had the seat off and when I went to put it back on it would not lock in place. Pulled the taillight out to see what was going on. The seat seems to be all the way forward and the side hooks are in place, but the bar at the back is not going in.The latch is working ok when I checked it with a screwdriver. Tried my other seat same thing and nothing seems bent. This is driving me crazy as it is probably something simple that I am overlooking. Any ideas on what might be happening?

Mine does this and I push straight down directly ontop of seat above where the latch is until I hear it click. I have nothing under the seat and it has always been a booger to latch. Good Luck

I cannot wait to see what people say, because I've had trouble with my seat from the day I bought the bike.

I get it on, but it typically takes me about 5 minutes each time.

I am wondering that if over time the side "hooks" that connect to the seat bottom bend slightly. Because if you look at my hooks (they are rubber coated), they are all mangled looking and the attachment bolts (on the bike frame itself) are all ground to hell also.

I bought my bike new and have struggled from day one.

totally frustrated.

I don't know, make sure it is in the "unlatched" position before putting the seat on. If the latch is already closed it won't allow the seat to hook into it.

Only time i had issues was with the risers on the rear. Never had an issue in stock form......seat slides off and on like butter.

I have never had any trouble till now and it is doing this with both seats. The latch is open and when looking at it from the taillight opening it looks like the bar on the seat is to far back.

the little spring on the locking hook always falls off of mine and i have to get in there with tiny pliers to get it back on. That always causes it to not lock.

my hooks are also grinded to hell, typical american machine, nothing is ever lined up right. reminds me of my GTO.

I've had problems since day 1 with the damn thing - thought I was the only one.

So for those who've had this issue have you fixed it any way?

I had that issue for a while, it ended up being the angle the rear receiver was at. Even though it didn't look like it was bent at all, I had to change the angle to get the seat to latch easily. I put the front hooks in and lowered it down while peeking in through the side till I could see where the rear bar was supposed to go, it was only off by maybe a quarter inch, but that was making it really difficult to get it to latch. Now it latches easy every time.

had all sorts of issues getting my bike.XB12Ss. would not leave dealer until he did shitty delivery and i asked " So where is the toolkit ?" .He unlatched the seat in front of me , showed the blue bag and said ohh there is your battery and proceded to replace the seat for 20 minutes. I was really getting pissed off at their shitty service so in the bike went back into a service bay. 20 minutes later an apprentice wheels it back out and says it's fixed . I asked him to remove and replace it again which he recultantly did. Another half hour later , wheeled away again it went on with " at the first service we will fix it ". I have the original seat i fixed in 10 minutes and also have 2 other seats i purchased that i made fit in around 5 minutes each by just taking note of where the seat post ( bracket ) rubbed on the striker ( knob) . I bent the seat bracket to suit and bingo .

remove the hooks you speak of and seat will be transformed into a normal operating seat, most people give me crap for advising this but it works!!!! you dont see any other brand with hooks.

It,s a great day. Miami comes to the rescue again. had to bend the bracket back a lot more than I thought would work, but the seat popped right on.And this morning the Doc said I don,t have thyroid cancer. I am not sure what makes me more happy, just wish I didn,t have to go to work and could go for a ride, but it is going to rain so I might as well go and make so gas money. Thanks for every ones help
