I just found this add on craigslist its been up for about a month and i just figured i would call the guy about it and he still has it. Its located somewhere around queens and he wants 3600 for it....hes not getting 3600 and ill post the pictures as to why. But the things i like about the bike (as long as its not a scam or something) is it's a 2006 XB12R with, and get this 2,977 miles on it (picture of odo to prove). BUT! there are problems (well cosmetic as far as i know till i see it sometime between tomorrow and next week) header, swing arm, air box cover and the bracket for the right side of the front fairing have scratches/dents and the frame/tank has a small dent in it. Well what i really need from you guys is 1. is it worth it if i offer him say 2500 (or less) 2. What signs should i look for to tell me that its a no go and 3. Point out anything suspicious (other than the obvious) Thank you for the help in advanced guys i hope to one day be a permanent member of the great buellxb forum community.

ad not found. I am guessing the bike went down at some point. I would say....Check the bike out. If you like it offer him whatever you think its worth. Bring someone that knows about bikes. They will be able to tell if theres only 2,977 miles or if the odo was replaced. Still. If it runs good with a few minor dings and dents I would pay $3000-$3500. Depending on mods and such.

Bottom line....Dont go into it blind! Bring an educated buddie!

Cheers and good luck [up]

looks like the bike has been fliped side over side very hard, missing heel guard too which means the rear brake master cylinder maybe messed up and may need to be replaced. i bet the handle bars are bent and he doesnt realize it, the dent in the header is huge & deep , needs to replaced it would make it to restrictive. forks maybe bent . passenger peg bracket bolts that bolt them to rear frame maybe bent or very loose. if it hit hard enough when it was flipped the front and/or rear rims maybe bent or at least out of round. dent in tank/frame looks deep but could be covered up with pucks.
with this kind of damage I would bet money that it has salvage title on it . do title search like
car-fax or your state tag/title agency to see.

conclusion (to me & my opinion) not worth $3700 with that kind of damage or not worth it even if the damage is light and just the scratched or broken bits from pics not my possible other damages. but for a alot less dollar amount it would make a good bike to fix/restore to it former glory , just replace those items, broken, beaten, bent & scarred. but subtract that cost from his price.

yeah ill go look at it and throw an offer at him and see where it goes i know headers can run 300-1200 depending on what i want air box cover is 100 swing arm probably 400 rear plastic under seat probably 150 blinker 50 and bracket for front 150 so ill have to put at least 1000-2000 bucks into it

Unless you do the repair work yourself, you're looking at a salvaged title. The person probably didn't have collision, and that's what the repair folks told him.

Ask him if he got an estimate on damages.

Hidden damage also may be fork tubes bent as well, lots of hidden possibilities when you buy a crashed bike.

Keep looking and don't be scared to drive 500-1000mi to get the right one. There are bikes on here for sale all the time and the prices are right, if not people will calll the seller out on reasons.

yea, doesnt look like it was laid down nicely. The crater in the header is pretty wicked.

IMO. I don't want anything thats been beat or wrecked up.. however, when you go to see it, take a box of tools and ask the guy if he minds if you take some quick things apart to get a better look. If you're about to hand him a couple grand, or more..less... then you should have the right to take some things apart to investigate.
good luck

He's had that for sale for some time now... Back when I was looking in September / October he was still trying to sell it for them same amount.. You may want to keep looking, but it won't hurt to go listen to it if your close enough..

Agree with the others. Looks like it went down on one side, caught and flipped. At $1500, he's going to go tell you to pound sand. At $2K, you're going to spend another grand to put it right, and there aren't enough good parts to part it out (I don't think). If you want a project, go for it. Otherwise, keep nosing around. Good luck!

looks like the guy bought it as a first bike rode like a squid and is trying to pawn his **** on someone who doesn't know any better (look at those chicken strips, pulled off his frame pucks too) I want to hit this guy for "destroying" a perfectly good bike. The likelyhood of him coming down on price is pretty low I would think. He seems like he is too proud for his own good getting a 12 for what I would think is his first bike, good luck though.
