Hey all,

I just found a one-owner '05 Uly for $4k and wanted to know if it would be worth selling my '09 XB9SX to get it. My wife would like to ride with me, but doesn't like how abrupt the tail is on my bike and how high up she is. The Uly is near-spotless and looks to have the original tires still on it even. Ups? Downs? Yes? No? Market value for mine?

I'd be pretty hesitant to go from an '09 to an '05, although the uly would be great for 2 up riding. Have you thought about trying a custom seat with a more spacious passenger area? And with a backrest?

She'll be way high on that uly but the triple tail will hold her on. Depending on your riding style i'd say go for it. To bad you couldn't have both.

I'd think about getting that seat like Miami has. When my boy is big enough I'm going to get one.

that triple is useless for a back rest from what i have heard. they is to soft and if put too pressure on it, it will bend backwards

My biggest problem is not being able to afford a custom seat for mine. Found out that the dealer won't take mine as a trade though because it's a consignment bike. Ah well.

My xb9 is an 03 and I haven't had any problems with it. I wouldn't worry about trading back a couple years. Someday I'll probably try to sell my xb9 if I find someone selling a clean xb12 I can afford. All depends on the bike you're gonna get. My bike runs well and has no problems at all, so I'd hate to trade it in on a bike if there's a chance it might have an issue or two. I'd regret getting rid of mine forever.

Aside from that, your wife will definitely a lot higher on the 12 than she is on your 9, but she might be more comfortable since the seat is bigger in general.

Squattybodyjr- Mine's a XB9SX (City X). The Triumph Bonneville is looking to be a strong possibility seeing as how my carving days are pretty much done with and I only commute.

So for selling price I'm thinkin $6,500 should be fair? HID low, LED signals, pipe, tail hack.1,700 miles. Opinions?

If it is what you want go for it but I think your biggest issue is going to be getting what you want out of the '09. Don't get me wrong you bike is worth $6500 a day but there are tons a year or two older for much cheaper.

I say go for it worst case you will have 2 Buells, pretty sure we can all agree 2 Buells are better than 1.

I'd love to go for having 2, but can't afford another payment. The seat height of the Uly is really tall too after sitting on it, and the rear seat is even higher than my 9's. I may be selling it to a local dealer and pay off my loan with HD. Not sure yet, but I really need a bike that's comfortable for the two of us.

Well I guess mine's staying around a while longer. Can't afford the payments on anything else. Any ideas on how to lower the tail??
