I searched here and on the web and I didn't find anything on this problem. the shift drum detent arm was bent. this bike has been stunt rode and has been treated rough. I drilled and tapped a hole and bent it back into place. it shifts great now and no more mystery nuetral. anyone else have this problem?

I personally would have split cases, replaced detent and other possible issues. But ive done it before so i dont think its that difficult. Drilling a hole feels wrong and ghetto.

Personally I just love removing and splitting cases so much... How cound something so wrong feel so right. Now he has the xtra bolt that will baffle people for the next 100 years

you did what? [down] ...have you thought of the shavings in the engine now

stunt bike...you should do a complete engine tear down and the same for the rest of the bike. replace seals, gaskets, bearings and anything else needing replacement. start off with a piece of mind of going over the entire bike and avoid the guessing at WTF is wrong with it when she breaks down on you.
