I notice that since having my bike serviced, sometimes I have to hit the shifter twice to get the gear to change. Is this normal for Buells or should I take it in? Is there something I can adjust?

That is kind of weird the only thing I could think of is not pushing up on the shifter hard enough but I dont know what else it would be.

There's an adjustment on the linkage arm of the foot shifter lever. May just need to tweak it to fit you. I hope it's that simple for you.

what oil was in it and what was used during service?

if they use different (thicker) oil your shifting will get tougher. ;)

Well, when I took it in for the 5k service, they found water in the clutch fluid.
Resolution states: Inner hub bearing had too much freeplay. The bearing was worn. Install new hub, race and bearing.

Shifting feels tighter and takes more effort now. I think they used SYN3?
