New to the forum.
I have an all stock 2003 XB9S. It will be going into the shop this winter for a little more attitude so I will be researching those options until then so if anyone has any suggestions for better sound and more low end power but still reliable as a daily driver let me know.

It seems right now that the tranny shifts pretty hard. I wasnt sure if synthetic fluids alone would help or if anyone had suggestions to clear this up. Also if synthetics will help, which ones? Your help is greatly appreciated.

All gears or just going into first? What exactly do you mean by hard? Like it wont go, slams, misses?

I run Royal Purple 20w50 in the engine and clutch.

synthetics will help...but it will always be a hard noise-making tranny.

it's no smooth jap bike in that area :D

It's difficult getting into neutral, and seems to be most difficult and loud in first and second. Maybe I just don't hear it above second gear. I just bought amsoil so I am going to try that.

Where can I get the service manual in pdf?

would try asking BPG for that one ;)

1st should be easy to find...you will probably feel a big difference with the oilchange.

4400 miles. I had same prob with my trans,.. it also started to give me a hard time getting into nuetral. It happened gradually so I didnt pay attention to it much. When I let a HD service guy test ride to check the front brake pulse, he mentioned it was hard shifting and he had prob getting it into nuetral as well. The next day I replaced both tanks with Amsoil.
It had immediate positive results. (shifts like new, only better)

where can you get amsoil the only place i found it was ordering it off amsoils website.

Yea, thats where I got it. I believe thats the only place you can get it. I was dissapointed that I could not find it in a local store but ..it sure was worth the wait!! (just doit) I am not familiar with any other oils to use for the tranny that is at least "almost" as good as Amsoil, there has to be something out there ...Isnt there??

None of the big "chain" auto stores will have it (that i've found). Check your local "mom & pop" auto parts store, if they dont have it im sure they can get it, or tell you where to. I was torn between both the Amsoil and Royal Purple, they had both at the store, but I got the Royal Purple because my buddie runs it in his 1300HP race car and swears by it.

my local bike shop in Denton, TX (suburb of north Dallas) (mom and pop establishment) carries the full Amsoil line, it is the best stuff i have run across. their website is www.swinepsycles.com and their # 940-381-0900. I believe his price on the Amsoil Syn 20w50 is around $10 a qt.

Get in touch with him, he's a great guy (don't remember his name for the life of me, but he's the owner and only employs one other mechanic) and will most likely work out some deal with you if you buy a case or more. I can get them for you as well and ship it on your dime if you like. Just trying to help out where I can to pay back all of those in the past that have saved my rear.

Changed the oils the other day and it is like a completely different bike. Idles smoother, revs smoother, shift smoother, and very easy to shift from N-1-2.
