I'm looking for a good mount/case to transport a shotgun to the trap range on my Uly. There are some sweet options for ATVs but I can't seem to find anything for a bike that's not for a bagger. Anyone know of a good solution?

Dont the army surplus stores have anything that would work? Or this kind of thing? motorbike-rifle-rack-25400.jpg motorbike-rifle-rack-25398.jpg or TC_Contender_Carbine_375JDJ_Pack_Rack_Rifle_Mounts_11.JPG failing that try this! lol a58e25955f9ceba30b1e82333abfca04.jpg

That would be nice if your state laws permit it. But in Illinois, all wepons, firearms, bows, etc., have to be unloaded and cased while being transported on any mode of transportation, car, truck, atv, horse, etc. But I think something could be made or modified. Been thinking about this to.

Tone - Chief is right. In Illinois, where I am, you can legally transport your guns if they are cased (case must be closed and fastened somehow - zipper, buttons, snaps, etc.) and unloaded. I like the pics you posted, especially the gatling option, though I was trying to be a little more subtle. ;) The metal case idea is one that I've thought about also. I might end up just taking the barrel off, putting it in a zipper case, and strapping it to the back seat or one of the side cases. Enough for the hour ride to the trap field.
I did stumble on this guys idea -

He uses one of the back footpeg mounts as one of the supports. Quite clever.

I love all this stuff its really cool, i mean i have never even held a shotgun let alone fired one or any gun for that matter but i couldn`t resist joining in! Lol The link you posted is good too and as you say quite clever and that is one big case i obviously underestimated the size of a shotgun! ha ha ha :eagerness: I also like learning the differences between all the different states on a variety of subjects! :eagerness:

In indiana you can carry a long gun loaded without a permit even. Just open carry it. Now the loaded pistol on my side needs a permit.

Hey Tone
Our lovely constitution (07-04-1776 never forget!:black_eyed:) says open-carry (an outside the waistband holster like a LEO) is legal. Everywhere except federal buildings, banks, and bars (a bar and grill is fine). The constitution is a federal thing and is supposed to override any state law.

Sadly the reality is different. Unless you are in a rural state like Montana, Idaho, Texas, Arizona, Alaska, and many others... I wouldn't recommend open carry in a big city.
Concealed carry (even a +3" knife sometimes) needs a simple class in order to possess a permit to carry a hidden firearm. Note: No background check. That comes when you purchase a firearm. Weird, yes??
Lots of states have made their own CC rules. They vary wildly and I wouldn't even claim to know all of them, even though I try. Some prefer a round in the chamber (otherwise why the Hell carry?) and some think it's an 'offensive' act (like you're looking for trouble). Some are easy with printing and accidental sight, others declare that 'brandishing' and penalize you for it...

Weirdly (and federally illegal) the city of Chicago and the city of New York, are declared 'gun free zones' (and they have the highest 'gun-related' crime stats by far with the now unarmed law-abiding citizens. Hmmmm).

I always air travel with my firearm, it has to be in checked baggage, and even with ammo is OK (not a carry-on unless you're a LEO), but technically I can't even have a layover or change planes in those cities. Even though I have no access to my checked baggage and a non-TSA lock is mandatory, they can break into my bag and confiscate my weapon "legally". For my safety, of course...

In other weird news, the state of California was sued by the feds a few years ago because they were refusing to grant any CC permits. CA does now, and it's a pathetic unlaminated piece of paper with your thumb print and NO photo! Safe, right?
New Jersey: you need a B.C. and permit to even buy a gun and a separate CC permit for each gun you would carry?
Oregon: 15min background check and walk out with it.
California: B.C., buy it, wait 10(I think? I'd never buy a gun there) days, then go back and get it. With the stupid 'bullet button' and 10-rd mag.
Florida, I can buy a suppressor can for my AR from a Class 3 dealer and take it home that day! I just can't 'use it' until I get my $300 tax stamp from the feds...
Rules vary from county to county too!

Typically the rules for long guns are usually much more relaxed (hunting ya know) than hand guns. All the "automatic weapons" the news likes to scream about are very, very restricted (thanks Bill Clinton), very expensive, and very hard to get permits for.

Confused yet?

But keep tuned in! Our outgoing president is poised to make an federal executive order for stronger background checks soon. No-fly list= no gun purchase is one of them. It will raise prices temporarily for the scared, and a EO is very easy for the next POTUS to undo. The Conservatives will scream 'There gonna take our guns man!!" And the Lib's will scream "It's for the children!". Whatever, I hear that same rhetoric constantly, and I have plenty of ammo:angel:

Disclaimer: This ^^^^^ is all IMHO.

A lot has changed here in CA as of the first of the year. With a permit I could carry concealed and pick up my kids at school but now I'll need to get a letter from the superintendent from the district. A person can now have all firearms removed from their home if someone can demonstrate the owner is a "threat to themselves or others" and be forced to undergo psychological evaluation.

Cooter you hit the nail on the head. As a former firearms instructor I have had this conversation more times than I can count and you did an excellent job of breaking down the BS they call gun control. I was taught gun control from the time I was 6... Use both hands and you have complete control of your firearm.

I was looking into being a firearms instructor, selfishly for the access to sweet weapons:eagerness: and probably still will:angel:

But in all seriousness, legitimate, un-biased gun education solves issues of bias, myth, danger/safety, and mostly un-informed opinions (hello 'ghost gun' politicians).

Trying the impossible to take them away just makes another prohibition, remember what happened then? Apparently politicians don't:(
