I bought XT 4 months ago and after 7000km I love it.
My wife just buy a BMW F800GS and we plan to do more and more unpaved road.
Do you think I'll get big benifits to change a XT for X?
tkx [confused]

How tall are you? The x gives more suspension travel & in turn gains height. I have a uly xt as well and the thought of extra height and size/weight are not appealing to me . I'm 5'9" and have ridden dirt bikes all my life untill my xt,I would opt for lighter 600cc bikes for any real "off road" adventures. A uly can do the job,but tends to be heavy for true off road situations. Fire roads would be no problem, but logs, big rocks, big holes and washes my be tricky.

I have an X and love it, but I tend to be on roads, bad roads and really bad sort of roads and it is a very good bike for this sort of thing.

It will also ride off road well enough in the right hands. But I personaly would not attempt any real off road stuff. You will find the X much better set up for the off road ride than the XT.

I would second bbletterin about the tricky stuff, for two reasons:
1. It's a heavy bike
2. Very limited tyre choices

So! to answer your question.... Yes you will.

Thanks to both of you. My wife and I tend to fire road or any other type of road as long it's a road to go somewhere. We usually fill up our side bag and leave home from Friday to Sunday to discover Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Quebec. It's not real dirt bike adventure with mud in our goggles. My XT do a great job at this time, I just still wonder if I really do more or get more from my bike with a X. By the way I'm 6'1".

I must say I'm invious of your situation. I can't get the wife to hardly sit on my bike, much less have her own & go ride for a weekend with me. Enjoy your rides.

Like wise!

I have had my Uly since last October and my wife has not even been on the back yet.

We are heading up to the Lakes in a couple of weeks, at last she is getting on board.

Must be good having a wife that rides though.... none of this getting permission to go away for the weekend.
