ok, so I need some advise from those who know these bikes. I just picked up a 2009 XB9SX in a trade, here is the catch, the thing is MINT, she only has 97 miles on her and has been in a garage its entire life. Im torn because I really love the bike for many reasons (reasons you all probably understand..... unique frame, last year of the harley marriage, V-Twin etc.)
So im buying a house, I have two other bikes and what Im wondering here is should I try to capitalize on the fact that this bike has such low miles thus increasing its resale value????? What do you all think? Whats a good selling price? Is the bike as unique as Im thinking?

why would you want to flip a SX? Sell off one of your other bikes and ride that SX like you stole it. On the street, if you have any skills youll love that thing... I picked one up a few weeks back as a back-up bike to my 12R and its become my main bike.. total badass. What color is it?

Blacked out frame, red wheels and tank ( more like maroon) . I did break the 100 mile mark today, I couldnt resist, and yes , I do love it, the only thing I may need to do is look into a way to lower her down, Imon the toes at stops.

you could just go with lighter suspension settings... Im on my toes too when Im on race settings but you get used to it.. thick sole boots help a bit too.

You know youre still in the break-in period, right? Don't push that thing to the yellow line yet. Be easy on it. Mine was the blue and sliver one... the last owner went over to a black airbox and flyscreen but I got the original translucent blue ones on order. Knuckle guards are gone and Ive got bar end mirrors on it.. looks badass going down the road. Handling is superb.
Ditch that stock exhaust and youll save about 10-15 lbs..youll feel the difference right away.

@ Gloomshadow, I also have a Shadow and a Vulcan, the Buell Is a whole different animal and im lovin it. I was going to do another thread on the proper break in procedure , unless you can give advise , im also sure Google can help, so far im being really easy on her to help break it in and also just to get used to the feel of this bike.

and thanks for the advise on the suspension , Ill look into the "how to" on that one.
Im a big fan of the black air cover, was it also transluent? and what did you do with the exhaust? change it or just flat out remove it and leave it open?

the easiest and cheapest muffler you can find is the Jardine aluminum or the carbon.. you just pull the stock one off and bolt the new one in place, then you attach the chin mounts to the bottom of the engine then put your chin back on.... or you can run it without the chin. I have the aluminum one on my 9SX and the carbon on my 12R. Other than the slight difference in weight, they give about the same sound and performance now after you change exhaust youre going to have to do at least a TPS reset so you may want to pick up a ecmspy cable for about 40 bucks so you can connect your laptop to the bike and do things like that.. we will walk you through it . I ll post of video of a blue translucent without the chin... Im going for this same look but with the chin on it.. Im even doing the wheel pin stripe.

btw you can sell a stock muffler in a open bid on ebay and get about 150 for it.

Id sell at least one of those crusiers.. you wont be needing those anymore. ha

once that suspension is dialed in to you weight, its going to be a whole other motorcycle.. Start off setting it for your total weight ... see if it drops the bike for you.. Then once you get used to that, dial it up to race settings for your weight as see how you like that... suspension settings are ******* critical as hell on a XB...if the suspension settings are off you are going to feel like youre riding a turd but if they are set right you will have razor sharp handing and a ton of agility.. XBs were voted the no 1 best handling bikes of all time by one of the British sport magazines back in the day that they came out. XBs in the right hands are wicked.

another thing I forgot to add.. the SX stock seat is higher than normal but you can sell it and get a sock S model seat and that will drop you down at least another inch.. I have a "select seat" in the S style so Im nice and low... a stock "S model" seat runs about 80 bucks ebay

any way you can post of photo of what you have? If its a mint stock SX Im pretty sure it came with the higher seat on it... but there could have been lower seat variants Im not sure, someone else here would know more about that than me.

oh yeah. that's a good one... red translucent. Id take the warning stickers off of it. Twist those reflectors off, drop the mirrors and the knuckle guards and go over to little bar end mirrors.. make it look real small and clean. Get a rear fender eliminator kit and ditch the belt guards... don't throw any of it away though... and yeah, from this angle, looks like you got the "tall seat". you may want to look into a normal "S" seat.. how tall are you?

you can also look into a LED blinker conversion, they are cheap, a lot smaller and better looking, and they never burn out any bulbs.. all you need is 4 LED blinkers of the right style and a LED flasher that goes in behind your flyscreen for about 15 bucks.

also tire pressure is critical to brake feel.. 35psi front , 38psi rear. if the front psi goes down, the front end will shake up and down under breaking..

I also don't recommend co-riders on XBs , they are just too damn small.. so you may as well drop the passenger pegs and save some weight and clean up the looks.. just make sure you put the two mount bolts and the nuts back in that secure the battery tray under the seat.

Are you sure about the warning stickers??? I think they really make the bike look B/A =)
I like the idea of the S seat and going small, Im only 5'6" and 140 lbs .....after a big meal.....while holding something heavy =/ , Is the LED conversion difficult ??? as far as wiring goes? Im sure I can figure it out, Ive always done my own work on the bikes and cars I own... YOU TUBE is a wonderful thing.
Im writing all this down, This info is worth its weight in gold to me, I love hearing from those who have been there done that. thanks
