Great story Alien, thanks for sharing. I am nowhere close to you on amount of bikes, but after 5-6 bikes I now have 2 Uly's in the garage, and have absolutely no plans to trade them in anytime soon :D

[up]alien!

Well i dont have a good story to tell about mine, but its my third bike and my favorite, everytime i think I'd like a new/different bike i ride something else and its not as good or i get on the ULY and remember why i love it. Its just one of those machines/tools that does everything i ask of it, not everything the best, but it does all of it with ease! Wahoo for Uly's, at one time the most under appreciated Buell out there, but i think they're finally becoming a favorite!

09 UlyX. You guys make me feel bad..., and I should. Less than 10k miles on mine. Moved from SD to Florida and I just dont ride anymore. Traffic is nuts and I've had too many close calls. Plus I've been having running issues. Fuel pump or wires. Only does it when its hot.

I'm up in the panhandle, Pensacola. 8 hours away from Ft Myers. I appreciate the thought! I have to clear out some space in the garage when I get some time and I will get it figured out. I checked the ECM and wire loom on the neck, which leads me to the pump. This site has been a major help!

Had a Honda 305 Scrambler in college with tires that were worn flat in the middle and I still got out on the fire trails through the Santa Monica mountains and had a ball. Had to sell it to get through my last year. Missed that feeling you get when you hop on a bike and realize you don't owe anyone an excuse for having so much fun.

Well, after college was the Navy and after that was marriage and kids and boats and surfboards and through it all my wife and I talked about how we wanted to buy a Harley when the kids finally left the nest. Six months after the last one flew the coop we bought the Heritage Softail and I love it to this day but something was missing. So, we bought an older 881 Sporty and that was pretty much the link to my college days. The only problem was it was a pain in the ass to take out for more than an hour (literally) and that got me thinking about a Buell. After a year we sold the Sporty and I immediately went out and bought my '09 Uly XT. Now, four years and about 30,000 miles later I do think about another bike. But I know I'll keep the Uly, no matter what.

heacha, hope you find the ride you're looking for. The Uly is really one of the most enjoyable bikes I have ever owned/ridden, and I've had a few too. Not quite the roster that alien can brag, but a few. And yeah alien, it is bragging, but what a great story. One I would share too if it was mine. My 07 has been a bit of a headache at times over the past year and a half, but I do love riding it. Many thanks again to those here who have talked me down from selling it last summer! Now how do I add a photo? I am tragically tech-dumb...

Anybody have a good way of coloring the wheels besides powdercoating? Probably a little bit to expensive for me to powdercoat, but i've got a jones to go all subaru on my hero blue Uly. I really want to see this thing on gold/bronze wheels with the blue. I think it would look pretty damn sick. Anyone seen one before?

plasti dip them. DYC has what you need. Do a matte black base then spray on gold metalizer. If you youtube DYC gold metalizer there should be one of their videos on how to do it. Plasti dip is neat stuff and when you're tired of it you can peel it off.

Neat. Never saw the metalizer stuff before. Already have a can of flat black pd. my windscreen was scratched up so i covered it up with the dip. Never saw any dipped wheels I liked before, but I think the metalizer will be the ticket! Thanks

I just dipped my plastics on my firebolt a couple of weeks ago. This was my first time playing with plasti dip and I must say its pretty cool. I'll be posting photos when I get my new wheels mounted. Its amazing there is stuff like this out there that allows us to have this kind of fun without doing any damage.

Mine from Belgium, just waiting for the Memphis Shades deflectors:

Well sorry but I can't post my picture which is on Photobucket!
