Luckily it broke when I went to pull the stand down when I got home! Hmm now I need to search for a fix. Drill and retap to the next biggest size?

Im STILL learning how to do it from a BlackBerry, (SEARCH), But I DO know somewhere on here there are plenty of threads on good fixes for that issue!! I,m going to need it soon too, I think!!

looks like the top of your sidestand is bent now. that will have to get straightened before you try to fix it if you do. if there are no cracks in it after you bend it back id say its probably okay to use.

Cool beans, I'll try the pin method. I was hoping not to order something. Maybe I'll do a sleeve with 5/8" bolt?

I wouldn't put another bolt in, I'd do the upgrade. My bolt, although never broke, always came loose. Every 1000 miles or so I'd check it(whenever I thought about it) and it was always backed out about half way. So I'd do the pin upgrade for $11(I did).

great link jesse!
readysetgo: i have several new pins and clevis pins in stock from mother H-D if you need a set. i bought out dealer stock about a year ago. put your stand in vice, compress the ears and straighten them, fit it to the stand bracket and make sure it swings front to rear easily, then drill out threaded back portion a small bit larger than the pin and remount. putting the spring back on takes a bit of work but you'll get it. hope that helps.

There is no room for a 5/8" bolt even without a sleeve to go all the way through. 1/2" is as big of a hole as you would want to go. The end of the pin is designed to stop that s metal piece that the spring is attached to from moving too far. So just buy the new pin and do what lunatic said. I just noticed you said pin method it is but in case anyone digs this up they dont get any ideas.
