Looking around at wheel sliders. Not sure if you need the ones that extend out an inch for more clearance (or marketing gimic to get more $$) or the ones which are flush will work just fine? thx.

The purpose of the slider is to be ground as the bike slides. To keep the fork off the ground. What sliders are flush with the fork? Or maybe i'm unclear as to what youre talking about. I bought some from Rhinomoto.com. Easy install and look great.

If you wish to get some aluminum ones I would look into a machine shop that may make you some for half the price some are sold for and if you are just looking for some basic black plastic ones stop by a walmart and buy a $10 skate board and use those wheels along with some threaded rod and a couple lock nuts.

Either way you will get what you want for a fraction of the price.

I had my tool guy at work make me a set and I have $4 into the threaded rod and I was done. My GF's bike has skate board wheels and hers cost $16 in all. Here is hers I don't have a pic of mine right now.

xtreme thanks bro. I definitely needed a set of those and I absolutely DID NOT want to dish out a **** load of loot for them [up][up]

And a +1

xtremelow, how did you tighten those? Are they threaded or have they got through-holes and nuts countersunk into the ends?

I've got DarkHorseMoto sliders. I can tell you they do exactly as advertised when you crash. I've tested them. It was money WELL SPENT.

I love making things, but honestly, if I really counted the materials cost for threaded rod, nylock nuts, and a length of Delrin plastic rod (the stuff darkhorse uses) or skateboard wheels, then added some value for my time since I was not doing billable work when I was playing around, I woulda/shoulda got the Dark Horse Eco sliders. Nice stuff, fair price.
