Small voltage gauge

bigrodge, that looks great. I'd also be very interested in what specific gauge you used, and if you have any pictures of the install.

Thanks for all the ideas!

I like that setup,, primarily by BigRodge,, but i found another (link by snnrusk) to badweather bikers page showing how a guy took apart his isntrument cluster and gave me the courage to give it a try, I dont like taking electornics apart, but that looks pretty good, the single LED bulbs that change colors seems like a good option for some of my more vintage bikes,, and im a fan of K.I.S.S so while the blinking and multi colored LED single bulb mght be very techy,, while riding id prefer the 3 color more simple LED which i can use in a idiot light location or unobtrusively on the instrument panel on my vintage triumphs, the small LED readout posted at the top of this page and by BigRodge is ideal for my Ducati and Buells, thanks for posting this.
these bikes with all their sensitive electronics NEED to have a good indicator of voltage, I dont know why its not standard on more bikes.

I think I'm going to do what bigrodge did. That digital gauge is probably cheaper than that single light thing, at it won't have a controller I'll have to mount, which means I should be able to pick up a ground and switched hot inside the gauge cluster housing and have it all enclosed. I think a gauge is better, anyway, to know exactly what's going on.

bigrodge, if you can provide any more info on your setup it'd be appreciated, thanks!

I will try to get some pics of the process posted soon. Working my ass off lately, barely found time to actually finish this project up.

I have to say what bigrodge has would be ideal. I would like to have a gauge so I'm interested in more details/ pictured.

More pics as promised, 16 hour days are kickin my ass. Also here is the link for the gauge I used. Here ya go guys.

Sweet [up]

Thanks bigrodge.

I was hoping the guage you used was sold in the US so I didn't have to wait so long for shipping. The only one I found in the states had blue led's and I want red. Still gonna pull mine apart and see if its usable though.

Ive been thinking of doing this with my wideband O2 sensor. I am not too worried about voltage but it is useful. maybe I could rig up a little switch to go back and forth. That would take some circuitry most likely but would be a neat project

I ran the ground to the battery and tapped into a fuse for power.

The one I bought was advertised as a motorcycle voltage gauge and the instructions recommended running the ground to the battery and power to a supply that is engaged by the ignition.

I intend to try and find a ground and switched hot in the cluster and solder it in there, that way it's fully enclosed. If that doesn't work out I'll ground to the frame under the fairing and pick up a switched hot at the fuse box.

Got my new gauge to go in my dash today straight from China.

Got it here $4.00 shipped and only took 9 days to get here too.

Post a photo up installed if you will

Will do. I'll try to take some during install too.

If you haven't seen already there are pics of bigrodge's on the previous page (where I got the idea).

I'm reluctant to buy a item from china but its all hong honk and china crap!

I searched till my head hurt for one like this in the US and couldn't find one to save my life.

So.....

They are on amazon for $3.99 plus $4 something for shipping.... search hossen mini led .36" digital voltage meter

[confused]

No match

Don't get me wrong I did find a few state side but not exactly what I was looking for.
I wanted -
a. mini b. red c. 2 wire
Everyone I found besides China only filled two of my request. Plus China was cheaper which is a plus and it all comes from there anyways so...
