Hello,

I have Buell XB9SX 2008.
After filling fuel until to the end, there is a smell of fuel around the motorcycle.
Even after riding for 20 minutes - the smell continues.
Fuel consumption increased by ~15%.
Normally a fuel light turn on after ~130 miles, now it turn on after ~115 miles.
What could be the reason?

Thank you

What's your local temperatures look like? How long has this issue been present? The fuel could just be evaporating given that the Northern hemisphere is in is summer season?

After riding at a temperature of 35°C = 95°F, I took out the vent tube and saw wetness of fuel at its end.
Does it make sense at this temperature or will the Fuell Cell Vent fail?

Why do you keep insisting on using multiple "screen names" and user ID's to post the same exact idiotic problem you've been chasing on here for what.....8 years now? Bewildering.

I don't understand your point. I have been registered under this user ID for 8 years, and only this user ID.
The problem started last month, I don't remember asking about the problem before.

Well, Barrett is kind of well, Barrett. You may want to PM for the problem. But I will tell you that every time I bring my bike into the garage after a spirited ride, I smell gas. I assume it is the overflow but can't say for sure. To be sure, my house has not blown up yet.

Are you overfilling it? Leave a little room when filling up, don't try to pack in max drops of fuel. Stop below the silver flange where the gas cap seals.

Did you get gas on your gloves?

Unless it is a Cal model with the big black obvious charcoal can on the left side, there is no filter between the tank and the outside air. You'll smell gas on a hot day. You can easily add that canister if you want to minimize the smell.

Take off the airbox cover and test the vent (top right side). Does it work? Is the ball loose inside? It should flow freely when level and restrict when tilted.

Does your gas cap seal well?

A 15% MPG difference isn't much depending on riding style and conditions, 115 vs 130 for a tank is a very minimal change not worth chasing. Use ECMDroid and a Buelltooth dongle to check your AFV. That will tell you immediately if the bike is running richer and will help you if theres a running issue.

Is your bike well maintained? New plugs (what did the old ones look like)? Fresh oil?

Is your bike modified? Race ECM with a richer program? Aftermarket muffler?

Sorry for all the questions, but you didn't give any information at all to be able help you diagnose it properly.

I fill up almost to the end... that's how I check fuel consumption.
I have no fuel on my gloves.
The ball is released in the vent.

I bought the Buell XB9SX 2008, 8 years ago with a Termignoni muffler and K&N air filter.
I don't think they changed software in the ECM.
Plugs were replaced 1000 miles ago. No signs of a rich mixture.AFV.speed.jpg
For all the years the fuel consumption was the same.
In the summer 18.5 kpl = 43.51 mpg. In winter 17.5 kpl = 41.16 mpg.
Attached is a recording of 20 minutes of riding.
