I did a S tail on my fire bolt. I was wondering if someone who has done one on theirs could post a "final results" picture. I searched through the threads and i see a ton of exterior pictures but none with the seat off. My main questions - what did you do with the shock resv. also, it seems like my S seat isnt sitting correctly on the tail. the front doesnt seem to "engage" into anything. Is there a groove for the front of the seat to slide into along with the rear latch and hooks?

As requested, I used the S shock mount, My seat is kinda of a pain to get the plastic lip hook onto the undertail hole. This hole is located just above where the battery sits, its a rectangle you can see my shock peaking through the hole. Just takes a bit of playing with. Oh yeah I used the original Firebolt seat latch cable and just looped it around in the box, works with no problems. I hope this helps. Lets see some pics.

ok soooo the seat does hook into the plastic battery tray? i thought it looked like it should but was having a hell of a time with it. i ordered all the **** off of buellsterparts along with a new seat latch and cable. ill post some pics when i get home!

Thats where I got my tail from, As far as putting the seat on, you have to push down on the center section and sometimes reach under near the shock and help make the hook work through the hole.

I have pictures in a thread somewhere with the seat off too. originally I had made a custom bracket to use the firebolt reservoir holder and one for the brake reservoir too.

i finally figured out how to post pics. this is how it looked the day i brought herr home.

i also ordered some frame paint from ASB that matched so well it was kind of hard to spray, but man does it look great. the previous owner kind of let her go but i did my best to re-do it this winter. ill post some final pics after i get the wheels on and a nice sunny day.

Looks good Zero, mine is transluscent red and black now.
Thanks man. The translucent plastics are probably one of the coolest (IMO)schemes Buell had. I want to do LEDs in the air box but at the same time think it's a squid move.

you need to bend your license plate out or in brah.
it is held on with zip ties at the moment. I am waiting on my integrated tail light still so I didn't want the plate mount to be anything perminant. ;)

I got my XBLights tail light yesterday and got it installed. Hell of a good product. Great quality and easy install!

I hear ya. I have the open airbox mod and it's translucent red. I want to put some sort of LED-Rheostat in there so it looks like it's breathing with either RPM or throttle increase. Reservation being the fear of it looking tacky.

i already installed some LEDs on mine under the air box. i also feel it may be very tacky but i also think it may be safer. I have a black riding jacket, i wear black pants to work. not to mention all the black on the bike itself. i think LEDs would make it much easier to spot me at night.

Another thing I just thought about is, blue lights are for emergency vehicles only and are illegal otherwise. Is it bright?

Trying to figure out why you covered the license plate in the second set of pictures and not in the first? I know some people do this to hide it, but haven't really figured out why they do it? I it to protect identity somehow?
