Sold the X1W last night. College kid. Loved it. Never had a sport bike before. Calls me today saying the oil filter loosened up and locked the eng. I said how did that happen? He says it loosened going to school and somehow I was at fault. I say man, I rode an hour to meet you and rode fine when you tested it. And it ran fine when you left. No oil issues. Period. Im thinking he did something stupid but who knows. Hate it for him. I wish I had sold it to someone who appreciated the history of that bike. Harley tech told me that those motors can be run out of oil for a while and wont lock up. Too much compression. Plus the smoke cloud off the header would be a dead giveaway you had problems. Oh well.....

Ive had two ex harley techs (one who taught at MMI) tell me those motors are really tough to kill. Roller internals, high compression plus the oil light on the dash. I hate it for the bike too

Thats tough to read. I'm mad for you. If someone busted my bike while the ink was still wet... Id want blood.

Yea tex. Cash money in hand. Signed title over. Hope he fixes it really. Ive been riding it since feb. Got it running last fall. That bike was 100% no issues at all. (sorry for the ryhme lol)

His mom calls yesterday saying I took advantage blah blah. She claims there's a puddle of oil as she went out to the garage and he was already gone on his way to school. who rides off when there's a puddle of oil on the ground???? and how did I manage to put 400 miles on that bike with no problem? she wants me to pay to have it repaired or give him his money back. told her no can do

Maybe the young lad will learn what "as is / no warranty expressed or implied" means somewhere along the way. Or, if he had the right attitude he'd break out his wrench set and learn what needs to be learned if you're going to own a bike that you ought to be servicing/repairing yourself.

If I had a pile of cash on hand I'd make an offer on it (for $500 or so less than he paid, of course) :p

I would just be like- "It ran fine but since you busted it and now don't want it, Ill give you $$$$(half of what you paid for it) for the bike back. Take it or leave it, I am not liable for someone messing around with the motorcycle and breaking it within a a week"

Heck, he had it ruined in less than 12hrs. And Harley is telling them the oil filter was improperly installed. Oh yea?, it made it 6mo w/o incident.....

Well in TN all I had to do is sign my part of the title, no bill of sale (optional). I sold a car once to a guy who wrecked it and let a guy take it for repairs. That guy disappeared and the owner calls me saying he never transferred the title and technically its a stolen car in my name still. I said "no, its your car". Wouldnt matter to me I had my money....

Well, apparently harley calls em and says no it cant be fixed. What could have happened? It ran so good for me,.im baffled.

He probably did an oil change himself and did not snug oil filter and that is why there was oil on the floor of the garage then road it. ( his problem )

I live too far away plus im busy with my job to look at it. Have no reason to either. He aint getting anything from me. I told him I changed oil in the fall and it had 400 miles or so since. Cant see why he would even touch it. But being a used vehicle sale im protected from recourse on their part. Even if I had goofed it up it wasnt intentional

its his problem now.is this the one you bought this past nov and have had nothing but problems with?
