Hey gents, i heard a buell with a jardine exhaust and was sold for life. Problem is im a little short on cash and i want that loudness right now. Should i take the stock exhaust off and go straight pipe or just wait till i save up. TERRIBLE IDEA or no?

Well if you do take it off, it would only be short term, I wouldn't do it for more than a two week period and that is stretching it, you would need to do a TPS reset, you will lose an assload of low end torque...

Oh and it will sound nothing like the Jardine...

The reason each pipe has a distinctive sound is because of they way their internals are built, the inside dimensions, exhaust material, the bend in the pipe that leads from header to the muffler, packed or not packed, etc...
I would have to bust out all the relevant theories on fluid and sound dynamics to explain it all and even then neither of us would fully understand it anyway.

Altogether not a good idea.

Keep in mind with the Jardine you will have to repack it every so often. I think someone on here knows however many miles it is, but I don't.

The Remus Exhaust sounds pretty wicked but it is even more expensive, at least in the short term. Remus doesn't have to be repacked.

You can gut you stock exhaust.
Ifin' you weld.

'Course, you still lose the bottom end.
Sounds good though.
A little remapping can make that better...

Adding to what XBear9S said, search the site for DIY exhaust mods and you will come across the mod he is talking about with lots of commentary/pics/vids/etc. it is a very well discussed topic, all it takes is a little willingness to look for it. I'm saving up for a Remus, that is unless the dyno from a custom exhaust that I heard about comes out nice, if it does then I'll spend less and get more so to speak.

Just safe your money and buy the pipe. You have gone this long without it,don't let a bad judgement call cost you more money than what the pipe costs.Like you said, money's tight, right?[smirk]
