well i'm going with a 190 or 200 rear and I'm looking at 4 tires the pirelli diablo,Dunlop Sportmax Q2, michelin pilot powers, and shinko 011, I'm running pirelli diablo corsaII's and got good mileage and had no problems but have herd good things about all these but if you are running any of there what kind of mileage are you getting, thanks

Are you looking for mileage or performance?

I would steer away from Shinko. They are not up to par in my opinion.

just looking for something good overall I'm on the edge with the shinko's but I've read acouple good writeups

I had the Pirelli Diablo CorsaIII on my old Yamaha, and will be putting them on my XB9R when it is time for new rubber in a few months. Got great miles on them, and pretty good in the corners too. Dual compound is the ticket. Takes a little longer to warm up but a great tire. And they are stock replacement for '08 1125R and Ducati-Hypermoto 1100 (2007-08).

i've got shinkos on my 9. i'd just wait to get a set durring the spring sale from cycle gear. they always have a sale in the spring, on a set of good tires for less than 200. right now the diablo's are marked down

but for just a rear tire;
a dual compound/sport-touring/touring tire would be what you'd look for to get the highest mileage.

i can get less miles out of a touring tire by riding like a jerk, than someone else can get out of a track-rated tire by riding smoothly

xxspudxx; do you have personal experince riding on a set of shinkos?
i'm on my second shinko rear at 6k mi, and am satisfied.

I have never used shinkos, but have had the Pirelli Diablos on my 1125. They didnt last as long as the scorpions I have on there now(roughly 4K miles, but I took it to the track a couple times.) , but they gripped a bit better in my opinion. I just picked up a set of Pilot powers for my bike based on recommendation from my shop guy, havent had them installed yet, so I cant give you any blessings on them.

I would say Bridgestone BT016's. They have a triple compound: hard center, medium "center-edge", and soft edge.

I know Cycle Gear is either having a sale or is going to have a sale on their Pirelli Diablo III's.
For the pair:
120 & 180 - $170
120 & 190 - $180

If you want performance go with the michelin pilot pure. If you want milage go with either the michelin pilot road 2 or pilot road 3.

I agree with the Michelin power pure. The Dunlop q2 I have on my bike right now and let's just say I'll NEVER buy them again. Their too hard and all they ever do is spin.

I've used Shinko's before and honestly, their not a bad tire at all. The Podiums I likes quite a bit. I ran 6000mi on them including a trip to the dragon and their were sticky and reliable the whole time. The Raven I didn't like so much. There was nothing wrong with the tire itself and it was surprisingly sticky but the profile wasn't to my liking. It was too slow to turn in.
For a street tire the Shinko will work just fine IMHO.

I've found that most of the prople who badmouth the Shinko's have either never ran them and heard from a guy who heard from a guy that they were crap, or they were trying to compare them to some top of the line tire that costs 3x as much. They aren't the best tire out there but they are plenty good for a street bike, even one that's ridden hard.
