I just today put on my Special Ops pipe on my 06 XB12R....also did the open air box kit, breather reroute, catch can with mini K&N breather filter. Also cut design in airbox cover and placed wire mesh, that I painted gold in the design. Its finally all back together....my question is if I want to take it for a spin before I remap it with ecmspy, is it gonna hurt anything? Its killing me. Beautiful weather here in Seattle and bike is just SREAMING my name. But would not want all my hard work to go to waste...

well based on those answers you should have a solid answer.?? Ha.

Personally I would wait to remap, but you can ride it but you will have to fight the urge to get on it hard.

If anything you will be running lean and that is the last thing you want whenriding hard.

I vote to do it right and wait a little longer to make sure you don't have any headaches later down the line from be impatient.

I 2nd that vote. [smirk] Honestly, if it were an '08, I'd say a short ride wouldn't hurt anything. I've got an '06 also, and as bad as the itch to ride would be, I wouldn't ride it till remapped & TPS Reset.

It's kinda like you know how you waited till you were married before having sex, how it was worth waiting for.....uh......you did wait.......didn't you?? :p

Seriously, I wouldn't chance it.

Hey SeattleBuellMan I'm from Portland and I travel up to Seattle all the time to see my gf. Have you found a place up there that will do the TPS Reset cause the Harley dealership down here doesn't do ECM remapping. Weird I know so I'm looking for a place in the norhwest to get it done.

Actually I'm remapping myself. ECMSpy.com has the programs and you can order the usb cable from Americansportbike.com. There are two places that will do it though if looking to pay....Destination Harley, which is in Fife right off of I-5...just after you pass the Tacoma Dome. As soon as you pass dome and go over river on freeway, you can see the Harley sign on left, and Eastside Harley in Bellvue. Spencer the service manager is cool and has helped me out tons.
Have actually decided to wait. Waited a month for muffler whats 48 more hrs....but did fire her up for about five minutes since I did not want to start and kill it right away....man it just rumbles now....will post some pics in morning. Thanks all. Onelogue. Bunch of buddies and I are planning ride down highway 101 in June or July. Few Buells, jap bikes, harleys and my buddy who is a BMW tech, is bringing his little car club with all their M3's and M5's. Should be fun. Probablly end up getting beach house in Lincon City for weekend. Just scenic ride...not balls out.. If your interested let me know. That goes for anyone out here in the Great Northwest.....

Hey SeattleBuellMan I appreciate it! I thought about doing the ECM myself but I'm pretty scared since I have heard some bad stories about people screwing up their engines from it. Really just depends on price, If its really expensive for them to do it then I'll force mydelf to learn ECMspy ha! I'm just tired of the throttle hesitation and breather hole popping. Reliability is what I'm after!
Any luck with yours so far?
Hell ya man I'm down! Just give me a for sure date when you know.

Well used ECMspy this past sunday. Girls brother helped and we got alot accomplished...just not the right tuning. Still pops on decel between 4000-3000rpms. Hit up Xoptiinside.com. Mike seems to be able to help out alot and get your bike dialed in. Heard nothing but good things so I'm going that direction. Plus when I sent him an email...he returned instantly. Keep you posted on remap and 101.

Right on I'll hit him up! I called Destination and Eastside and both said they don't remap but they suggest that I get a race ECM. (like Lefox says)
The guys at Destination told me to bring in ECM spy if I get ahold of the program and they will try to work with me on it.

seattlebuellman what part of seattle do you live in? im in west seattle.

Hey Taylor just in case you didn't read the previous messages SeattleBuellMan is putting together a ride soon so hopefully you can make it.

Usually ride with pass. pegs off but took my lady for ride today. Funny story. HAD gold shorty pazzo levers on but picked up bike after getting new rubber and used older tie down. Long story short....tie broke and bike slammed side of bed. Breaking my new brake lever installed day before. Bummer but only damage. Plus had old tires on wheel well right where headers would have hit. Fate!!!

Hey guys...plan on reserving everything here in couple days. Actually probablly this weekend. Waiting on a couple of buddies answers. If anyone else is interested let me know. Drop your email. Hit you up.

Taylor... Raised in Maple Valley, live in Tacoma, work for city of Renton...and ride all over. My girl lives in N. Seattle. 130th st exit. There all the time.
