I know a few guys on her are looking for the Ss swing arm (this one has the brace too) Here is the link at Buellsterparts.com, $129

Ss Swing Arm

how much longer & what all needs to be changed? certainly the belt, but what about break line etc?

Xtreme's the man when it comes to putting an SS swingarm on a Firebolt - he'll post up in time.

Yes that is what Xtreme has on his bike. Gives it a the stretched look which i love!!! I wanna do the conversion so bad but im nervous it wont work.

Hey xtreme can you briefly explain what else is needed if i switch out my swing arm on my bolt.

i know from Xtreme's previous posts that he had to get different oil lines for SS swing arm, different brake lines and i think he had to get a different belt. whatever else he changed he will post up.

Different belt (Ss one) and custom oil lines since my bike is a 2003 if you have a 2006+ I think the oil lines will be fine, the brake line was fine also. It is 2" longer. Dont quote me on this but you may be able to just run a stock Ss shock in the rear and and slip the forks 1" and you will be good otherwise you will need a custom bracket to make the stock shock work.

The swingarm is a straight bolt-on very simple just need to work out the mount and oil lines if need be.

New the swing arm and brace will run upwards of $600. Figure $129 for this swing arm and a powdercoat for even $100 is still a deal at $229.

Here is my best side by side.

Thanks Brandon!

Dang I want that custom bracket that you made.

RJ, the bracket is only necessary if you want to lower the bike. If you just want to run the SS swing arm all you would need is the SS shock and the other parts mentioned by Extreme.

I believe even if you run the Ss shock you will need a small bracket as the Ss shock is only about 1" taller than the stock shock and if you mount it straight up is would drop the rear about 1"-1 1/2". The reason the shock seems so much taller is because on the Ss the upper mounts are in completely different spots giving the extra 3" or so of lift on the rear of the Ss over the S/R.

If you did run just a Ss shock I believe you would still have to slip the front forks atleast 1" to maintain the correct horizontal plan of the bike, so you wont have a sagging rear.

Thanks Matt. Yeah I dont wanna lower it, I thought the bracket was for making the R/S shock compatible with the SS swing arm.

Damn, so im gonna need the Ss shock and the bracket to keep the stock height.
-Ss swing arm
-Ss Shock
-Ss belt
-Brake line
-bracket (somehow)

Gonna be spendy! :/

Hmmm, you are probably right, but RJ could always swing down my way and we could compare my bike and his.

haha sorry dude! My roomates name is Matt, must have been talking to him when i wrote this.

Definitely dont wanna drop my bike too much lower since I am 6'2".
But I so badly want the long swing arms like you and Xtremelow's bikes.

I obviously don't know all the technicals, but I'm guessing that you could get the ss swing arm and belt it will work. Get the two, try them, if you need more stuff, buy more stuff. Just make the commitment to do the swap and figure it out along the way. But I'm guessing it's not as hard as it's being assumed.

Like I said if you have the newer style swing arm already 2006+ you can get away with just the belt, swingarm, and then depending on what you want for the height you could do a bracket or Ss shock and slip the front forks 1".

In all the swap is easy. Hell I went into it damn near blind and came out great. So given the info I have already found through my customizing it should be simple for others.[confused]
