SS Swing flush??

I purchased an SS swing and just received it in. Without knowing how previous owner cared for the fluids or how this swing arm has been stored for however long with open holes, should I flush the oil tank to clean out debris,dust, possible rust, etc? And if so, flush with what?

I have been using kerosene for years to flush engines, when i got my swingarm, i flushed it with kero and oil, then filled and plugged it before storing it.

Don't use soap and water.

Btw, your key chain got dropped off today. Got a little busy so I just got it out today.

simple green would work well too, just rinse really well and use compressed air to dry it out

for powder coat you should just need to drop off the swing arm dry and clean of oil. they will either dip it in a chemical bath or spray it clean inside and out. you shouldn't need to do much of anything either than clean out the inside if your doing powder coat. Heck I just dropped my stuff off and they cleaned the oil and all so they could do it how they felt was best. Saved me time and money so it was cool with me.

Some before, all I did was removed the bearings and tires.

On another note, in emailing Al at ASB, he says the oil lines on an '06 are completely different than an '04. The change was actually from '05 to '06, which in turn causes the pulley cover to be different as well. Has anyone made this change from those two year models?

What's involved with making an '04 to '06 work? Or is it even possible without considerable fabrication?
