SS to s tail Idea?

Would it be easier to make an adapter piece the is a minimal height tail lift piece as well so that the bolt could be put in without interferance of each other? Maybe about a half of an inch thick? That way there is no offset where the bolts would normally run into each other but 2 straight clear lines of sight to be drilled at just different heights? Plus you get the tail lift at the same time.
Comments? Ideas?
