Stainless Race Muffler

Hey guys,

Just picked up a bolt for a good price. I plan to resell the bike in a couple weeks. It has a factory race kit on it with a polished stainless race muffler. I have seen several of the Silver painted race mufflers around but never noticed a stainless version. Is it rare? I'm considering swapping it onto my STT, but it's a little flashy for me. What do you guys think? Take the muffler? Keep it on the bolt?

If its a factory pipe then it is not stainless.

I think some were ceramic coated steel (which might appear similar to stainless). They bring some good money...I'd say sell it separately from the bike if you can.

I need to pull it and get a better look. Certainly doesn't appear to be ceramic coated.

I need to get $3,500 out of the bike. It's an 05' with 7k on the clock. Super clean other than a painted air box cover. You think the price is reasonable?

That doesn't look like a factory pipe, the angle is wrong on the outlet. Get some other pics of it, different angles or whatever. Also look at the way the chin fairing is mounted.

I think that's very reasonable! Might be able to squeak a bit more out of it actually?

It's a 12. Has new tires and brakes too. I will get some pics of the exhaust tonight

Yes thats a factory/dealer installed race can.
I have 40,000 miles on mine and it shows no sign of wear.
If I were you I would NOT get rid of it.

Yep. Looks identical to yours. Is that ceramic coated?

Another question. I can see the beginnings of the rocker box leak on the bike. It's nothing serious yet. I will definitely change the breather grommets, but would it be worth changing the rocker gaskets before trying to sell? I would have to ask a little more for the bike if I did so.

I have the same can on my bike and I absolutely LOVE it! Hang on to it, its the best there is, just my .02
