My 05 bolt 12r is what I call a hard start. when it go to start it up I stalls for about a sec or two then cranks right up, but I did notice my milege display resets the trip when it starts. is it time to get a battery or what is going on.I do also have it connected to a charger and it does this.
when I ride a long trip it seams to stop.

Mine did the exact same thing earlier in the year. Found if I left it trickle charging full time, it did as you explained above. Instead, take it for a good ride and then only charge it once a week or so. No more delayed starts for me. [up]

Edit: I meant Ride it OR charge it - once a week.

If you're having resets when you start the bike it's time to deal with the battery.

The battery is weak. Try to put it on a slow trickle charge and see if it helps. Sometimes it will last a while longer, but if it only lasts for a day or two before its doing the same thing you will need to get a new battery. I just went through the same thing with my 08 bolt.
