My xb12s has a delay when you hit the start button. The engine turns then stops then turns over and starts. Only does it cold Any ideas?

do search or google "buell xb.com compression bump." assuming your wiring, relay, battery and starter are in proper working order....what you are describing is fairly common in alot of large displacement V-twins. read the narrative i wrote on same.

Mine does that a lot, I heard it was also normal for these v-twins so I don't worry. I have a newer battery also.

Weak batteries will cause this symptom on v-twins with heavy flywheels (and 405 degrees between power strokes!), like our HD-based lumps.

Yep, a better battery will spin over the Stock Starter. Which is usually a 1.0 kw starter. So they used a 200 CC amps battery to go with that at the Factory. It is ok but I like to spin it over and go.
Hasn't hurt any of the customers either.. Many times I install a 220 CC amps battery NO MORE than That ! It helps quite a bit. Both my Buells the CBR and RC51, have Deka batteries in them. The Buells have 220 CC amps each with a 1.4 kw Starter for the Buells. Spins it over tip top.
Starts so fast it has made other Buellers take notice and sooner or later want to know how to make theirs as well. Try a better battery with at least 220 cold cranking Amps , the Deka battery is an aftermarket brand of H D so it will fit just fine Look up Rare Electric out of Atlanta Ga..hope this helps . Ride safe. Jimi [smirk]

Mine does the same thing. Brand new battery last year from HD and no change at all. I will have to look into the Deka battery.
