So I was infront of block buster and started my already warm bike up and before it got 1 or 2 rpms in it backfired so loud it sounded like my 45. Ran fine. It wasnt like its normal crackle when you let off the gas in a low gear. It was loud. So is this normal from time to time? I thought I read here that someone can do this on purpose and scare the hell out of people.

Happens to me probably 3 or 4 times, like strmvt said just a build up of fuel.

If it happens and then continues to run bad afterward you need to check the plugs to make sure the gaps havent closed. [smirk]

I don't know, but it happened to me too in my garage. Damn Ulysses kept fouling the plugs and wouldn’t kick over. Popped them out, cleaned them, put the plugs back in and cranked it a couple times (bad fuel maybe?) and still would only catch on one cylinder. Kept trying and BOOM! I thought the damn thing exploded, it was so loud. I had to make sure the muffler didn’t spit it's guts out all over the garage after. Got it to fire a minute later and it was fine.

I have a buddy who puts any kind of fuel in and he will get that once in a while.I use Shell 93 with a hose for 93 only.My buddy will go anyplace and if its a one hose three grade pump he is putting in almost one gallon 87oct and two gallons 93oct.

i went to start a harley in a parking lot; it backfired so loud, the sound bounced off the 70ft cement Honda wall next door and made 2 people in front of me think shots were ringin out. lol :D

What year is your bike? It is common on a bike with a carb. If your injected bike is doing that try and let it idle a few minutes before shut down, especially on a short stop.

Mine will do it if I start it and the idle stumbles to a stall, and start it again. If it doesn't start immediately the 2nd time I cut the key off and then back on. If it doesn't start the 2nd time right off, it's just pumping fuel in to the muffler...
