Stator Out

Having fun riding in Arkansas and the CEL light comes on, lights go dim, dimmer, out. I kept on riding from Western Grove through Jasper and down Hwy 7, to 21, to Clarkesville. Using hand signals, not sure how much gas was left, just kept on riding. On the way I did pull in at Thompson's Harley shop and was told sorry cannot help you. Made it back to the hotel in Clarkesville without incident. Probably rode well over 100 miles on a dead battery and stator.

How do you know its the stator? There are lots of other reasons why the charging system would quit.
