Just asking out of curiosity, but is there a known problem with stators for the 08-10 xb's? I know they have issues with some of the 1125s. I just read somehting about it in another post. So I didnt know if it is an isolated issue or recall of some kind.

08+ XB buells have no recalls at this time.I just replaced my Stator this month and 4 months ago replaced the Voltage Regulator, mine XB12R-2008 had only 15,000 miles I guess nothing lasts on any machine these days.*Jimi

Any of you know if these are covered by the warranty? I ask because I'm fairly certain that is my problem on my 08xb

ecan95242, Depends on if you bought it at dealer new.The 2-yr. factory warranty is pretty good with the Unlimited miles on the first 2 yrs., and any EPA related parts have an 18,000mile With NO ECM changes by any other program that would change the ECMs Maps and Epromm From the STOCK configuration.
The parts such as ECM/IAT/Temperature Sensor(Fan)Interactive Exhaust actuator(air box)valve for STOCK exhaust muffler valve assembly.O2 sensor/Tps sensor/and a couple more.Pretty much any part that works in electrical for ECM to Montor.Wear items not included. THERE are a few Recalls on the 08+ buells The Headlite lowbeam assembly,ONLY if it's melted or broken. The Clutch Cable bracket by front header.Keep that Rubber Boot on there so as not to get water to run inside the cables housing down to Tramsmission.
NO Pressure washing UNless your taking it apart.Rocker cover gaskets will seep.Front brake line on some model buell bikes Lightnings I believe.Just some to get you started.*Jimi

i tried the dual headlight mod in my 03 xb9s where u switch the yellow and orange wires in the headlight harness and it allows u to run the low beam when on low and both when on hi....99.9/10 of others who have done this say there are no issues but no more than a half hour after switching the wires and having the bike off it dies...could this be a stator issue?

I have the same question as madisonm55 because I believe the same thing might have happen to me when I did the dual lights mod [confused]

Let me ask, do you guys want me to tell you whats wrong? Or would you like me to teach you how to diagnose your issue?
Edit: madison dont need to post in every stator thread you see.

I guess both.. I was just wondering if someone out there had the same problem and solved it.. I've tried diagnosing it, but couldn't figure out what was causing the battery to keep draining. I only started having that problem after the mod and btw I soldered the wires ditched the plastic harness and pins. Thanks

Based on what you guys has said, the battery dies after shutting off? Like the battery drained? Is that is true you have a "parasitic draw" not stator or voltage regulator related.

Basically means something is using power when it ahouldnt. So donyou have access to a good multi-meter that can measure amps and milli amps?

yea I have a multi meter... is it possible that when i turn on the bike, to the on position before starting, the HID's(55w) drain the battery to the point where it can't start.. shouldn't be the reason though because the battery is brand new from HD dealer plus I thought HID draw less current anyway.. and how can I find out what is draining, if there is something like that, the battery when I turn of the bike as you were suggesting.?

Its probably not drained once the key is turned on. It drains at all times key on off whatever thats how you end up with a dead battery.

How you test, set you multii meter to amps at this time with your negitive cable still attatched to the terminal and the KEY OFF attach positive lead to the post and negitive to the cable. Disconnect the cable from the post and pull away. Read your meter, if nothing switch to mili amps and report your numbers. If you have a reading of 0.02 AMPs or higher you have a serious draw, start pulling fuses 1 by 1 until the meter no longer reads anything that tells you what system the draw is in. Id start with whatever fuse controls your lights see what that does.

An afterthought, if that yeilds no result a stator or VR could cause this but unlikely, youd have to disconnect their plugs to see if the draw goes away.
