steering damper length?

I put this in a post earlier but i don't think anyone is going to look there. I am just wondering what length in millimeters I would need for a side mounted steering damper. I already have the brackets just not the damper its self. I've seen some at 400 mm. or 300 mm. or something like that. If someone knows please let me know. Thanks!

if you go for a steering damper, go for a gpr.
works good and a much cleaner look.

otherwise you can go to the manufacturer's site and chose the damper for the buell you have.
but i'm not sure every bracket works with every damper...so it will kinda depend on what brackets you have.
