Hey everyone, sorry to be a cross-posting asshole, trying to get visibility. On May 27th my white 2003 XB9R was stolen in Los Angeles by 2 men in a pickup truck with extended cab, using a trolley to move the bike with the lock on. There's damage to both sides as they dropped it during a failed 1st attempt the night before that I thought was just a hit and run. I'm watching BuellXB, Badweb, Craigslist and Ebay for the parts, but I'd greatly appreciate if anyone kept an eye out. I think my levers showed up on CL yesterday in Norwalk, but according to the detective I can't prove anything's mine if they don't have serial numbers.

VIN 4MZAX57J533420153
License 16S7035
EBR race pegs
K&N Air Filter
Black ASV shorty levers with red adjustment wheel
Quick release seat
Roadmaster tires
Axle sliders
Frame pucks
Upgraded to 2004 model's pulley/belt system and oil lines
Tank cover has EBR decal, which will appear as a shadow if they remove it, unless they do some serious heavy duty polishing

Left mirror snapped off, right mirror has scratches, right grip is tore, right handle plug missing, rear axle sliders scratched, all pegs scratched, foot brake lever scratched.

Hit me up at [email protected] if you see anything!

I just saw it on FB to! thats to bad, I'll keep an eye out online for parts and such, I hope it is recovered!!!

Good luck! I know the feeling.

Inquire about the levers and see if you can get an address to scope out

That really sucks, Im sorry to hear that. I bought a 2003 XB9R thats all white and some custom parts about 3 weeks ago up in Seattle, I can assure you its NOT YOUR Bike, i have clear title and its all legit with lots of documentation. Just wanted to mention it before you got any ideas.

However, just a suggestion that I sometimes do, is that I take an engraver and engrave my initials and the bikes serial number and VIN Number in a number of not so obvious places. Such as the inside of the primary cover, timing cover, transcovers, inside of the swing arm, wheel rims on the inside while the tires are off, backside of the sprocket.Rocker covers, anywhere and everywhere... think about this.

Ive done this for vintage bike owners when doing a full overhaul and restoration and do this on my own keepers in my collection. Nobody realizes they are there, and can make recovery a lot easier if you track it down being parted out.

Im so sorry for your situation, but figured id make mention of it on here as likely many people will read this and hopefully do the same to their bikes, lets make it hard for people to get away with this BS. Good engravers dont cost much and worth the expense, but if on a budget you can buy a crappy one from Harbor freight so theres no excuse not to do this.

If you do this, and you are indeed female....Please go with someone. If they are low enough to steal someone's bike (with a failed attempt as well), who knows how erratic they may be. There is safety in numbers [up]

Thanks Anrkizm95, very much appreciated. InternetAnnoyance- That was my first thought when the detective told me I couldn't ID the levers from scratches alone. I don't like marking things because I always end up trading and upgrading, but I'm definitely going to etch a little triangle or something into every part that would only be noticeable to someone thoroughly inspecting it. And Burton, thanks for the suggestion. I do have a bad habit of thinking just because I'm covered in leathers, I'm invincible to guys twice my size.

For the sake of argument, I think a girl beating the hell out of someone for stealing her Buell then riding off into the sunset is mildly hotter than just a chick on a Buell.

Just curious, I'm looking into LoJacking my other bike but I imagine someone who scraps stolen bikes for a living knows to do it quickly and get any trackers off ASAP. Are they visible or easy to spot when chopping?

You can create a tracker with a cheap burner phone from like boost mobile or something. Just hide it in a clever spot.
