Lol! Al the pot heads on the forum clicked on this one quick!

Casey Stoner that is.......so I saw his press conference about retiring, and each time I hear the story, they say he's retiring because 'he doesn't like where the sport is going', but I haven't heard what specifics he's dissatisfied with.

Anyone know any details as to what he doesn't like about MotoGP? (oh9bolt, I didn't feel like googling, I wanted the cliff notes :p:D)

Google is your friend. :p

I dont know I saw that he is going to retire and thought to myself he is tired of whipping everyones ssa.

Lorenzo will be next to retire...

The guy is talented fo sho! I like that Repsol bike! And all the chicks who hold the umbrellas before the race! :D

Am I the only one who clicked here expecting a discussion about Casey? [confused]

He has been saying he doesnt like all the rule changes. And that due to these changes to circuit has become too much of a hassle. Basically the same when rossi left hrc, too many corporate hoops to jump through. This isn't an out of the blue thing for stoner, he has been complaining for years. Him and a few others have somewhat been dubbed the "crybabies" because of it. Also with regards to his comment on twitter before last weeks race, it basically said "i have lost interest for the sport, not lost interest in racing or riding these bikes. " is aimed at his move to wsbk. Where, of course, the majority of ex gp riders go. Biaggi, Hopkins, etc.

Stoner isn't done racing. He will take a year or two off to help raise his new child. Then come back to world superbike.

When I saw the title of this thread, I knew it was a discussion about Casey's announcement to retire. And for his reasons, I don't blame him - if that is how he feels, and what he wants to do, that is what he should do. But he has been doing it for a long time. We are not seeing the last of Casey Stoner connected to our sport or racing.

I think Simoncelli's death affected everybody. There's a lot more caution out there, a lot more hesitation.

Interesting you say that, because I often wonder how that affected these guys. I wondered how much this played a factor in his decision consodering the new baby.

It's like the Indy driver Dan Wheldon who passed away at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It clearly affected guys and several were pretty vocal about that. In fact the speedway in Texas is set up similar to the Vegas speedway with the high pitch in the turns and how the fences are constructed, this may cause Indy to not renew with Texas Motor Speedway because of the fear in some of these drivers.

he should go to nascar

Makes you wonder if he transitions into another racing sport!

I hope everybody caught the sarcasm on the nascar comment. I said that b/c you could drop one of those cars off the empire state building and they'd walk away from it.

Moreover -- does anyone else find it a bit uncouth that Simoncelli's fatal accident is viewable on Utube set to music?

Lastly, better all-time rivaly -- Stoner v. Rossi or Rainey v. Schwantz ????

I watched it live on motogp. Got up at 4am to watch the race. I was so upset when it happened and stayed watching, hoping for some good new. It didn't come but I remember the announcers asking the film crew to stop showing it. They sounded like they were crying.

Yes, I don't watch racing to see that.

I hate when people send me videos of riders getting hurt. I let them know.

from what i have heard numerous times casey is pretty much over the whole international scene. He is exhausted from travel and wants to settle back in Australia for some family time. He has done a few tests in V8 supercars and is linked to a top team. This may be smoke and mirrors but i have seen his interest at 4wheels. Time will tell
