Which one do people prefer and which takes more skill? Anyone regularly do stoppies on their Buell here?

id say stoppies are harner, couple fsctors to consider, 1. takes nore skill to ride out a stoppie
2. any idiot can do a wheelie for 1 block or less
3. you cant save your self from looping a stoppie.

so in my opinion stoppies are way more harder than wheelies, i dont even attempt them.

Stoppies take way more balls and IMO are much harder to master as there is much more of a fine line between triumph and tragedy.

Wheelies have much more in the abilities of control, as you are able to use more or less gas, higher or lower gears, weight shifting, and brakes.

Wheelies are easier IMO but much harder to perfect as far as slow ones are concerned.

You ever hear that noise bikes make when the back wheel slams back down to the ground after doing a stoppie?? I could never get over it and always felt like I was killing my bike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5VIgK-Y6kA&feature=fvw

At least with wheelies you can either set the front down gently, or else you're already going too fast to notice.

Aside from that I don't have the nerve to lift my back wheel off the ground anyway.

From experience, I have done one stoppie on accident because I was sent the wrong brake lever and the front locked up on me somewhere between 30-45 mph. That will really get that rear tire off the ground!

I've never done a stopie, I'm to affraid my fat as$ would throw my bike into a somersault.

Wheelies i've done on accident, never intentionally.

[up] upthemaiden. I started doing stoppies a few yrs. ago, just seemed way too hard on the bike. I'm good at wheelies. Both take alot of practice at first but just like anything else the more you do the easier they become.

LOL, we will have to work on the wheelies Eric...

I used to do a lot of stopies on my CBR but I love my Buell and its too new to risk flipping it over so I refrain from any "good" stopies... I wheelie it a good bit thou!

My bike does wheelies everytime its gets rode, which is everyday. With the xb12 gears on my 9 it doesn't like coming up like before but it's still fun.

I used to ride stoppies on my dirtbike and do them very well but not on the Buell. Had some bad flips on the dirt and do not want to repeat on the street!

Anyone used the wheelieteach to learn how to wheelie? Never done the dirt bike before therefore I am not confident of doing it on street. I can pop it up on 1st gear - but not all the time, I think its because I am a pussy at times! :D

My wife and I have done a couple accidental wheelies through the intersection at the lights. Not allowed to do either anymore on the Uly.:p

i ride crunchy bikes (4cyls) for a stunt club so got all m practice on those and my buell is my HP and TQ monster with the big bore and my pretty bike so dont do a ton of stunting with it but have no problem ridin a wheelie for a mile or so in 5th or holdin the rear wheel off the ground for a good 60 to 80 feet...

as eveyone else said i agree stoppies are alot harder to lean and take more nuts cause thers no way to save yourself and theres no good way to bail off either...wheeies are easy to learn... buy a honda crf50 throw some street tires on it and go to town then just transfer your knowledge over to a big bike... anyone in MN feel free to come learn on my 50's!
