Where do you put it?
I've been resting it between the clutch cable and the speedo display, but I think it's scratching the clear plastic dash cover:/ any better options without getting off the bike?

I ALWAYS put my gloves and gas cap on top of the pump while filling up. I know I'm not going anywhere without both of them back where they need to be.

Thanks for the replies :) I'll try experimenting with these suggestions....especially the crotch location lol

stick my where the gas pump goes, once done, grab my cap and place the handle back

Do all you guys have the same key for ignition and gas cap? I have two different keys. I didn't know this was not normal until a while back riding with some buddy's. Makes me wonder why, was my bike stolen!?!?

I usually put my cap on the pump.

You shouldn't have to get off your bike, unless you're a midget.
This raises an interesting procedural question about re-fuelling.

Like many others, I usually do the lazy thing and remain seated while pumping the gas. I often think to myself however, that in the unlikely event of a fire, getting away from the flames would be much more challenging from a seated position straddling the bike (especially if the sidestand is still up) than if standing next to the bike.

Owning a bike with the fuel filler on the side panel forces me to dismount, and has caused me to begin rethinking my lazy ways.

ignition, tank, and seat are all keyed alike from factory.

If you fill it to the top with bike upright then decide you need to get off the gas will come out the overflow when it leans over.

I borrowed an idea from a Buell thread on ADVRider: ziptie a carabiner to your handlebar or mirror stalk. You then hang the gas cap (with key in it) from the carabiner while you fuel. Pic from awesome thread below.

Key in the cap and on top of the gas pump. Get off of the bike. My buddy did the very trick of catching fire while sitting on bike(dumb ass was smoking). AFTER we realized he was ok it was very funny watching him get off the bike! Gas station jockey was NOT amused! This was in Jersey where they still have gas jockey's. Anytime I visit Jersey I go to pump my own gas(I'm from Florida) and the gas jockies go nuts on me. They have no sense of humor!

I can't believe this question has gotten so many questions.

So when you guys hit the head, do you shake once or twice? I mean I always give it good thrashing for 15 secs...but you know how it goes....No matter how much you dance, the last drops will be in your pants.

I put it on top of the pump with the key still in it so I can't leave without either one.

^this.

but from now on i'm doing this. what's up ladies!! :p:D:p
I stuff mine in my pants so I look enticing to all the women folk who walk by as I'm filling up.
