Is there any possible way to have straight pipes without a muffler on a xb, i know some major work would be needed such as reprogramming the ecm, so the bike doesnt run so lean.. has anyone thought about this, cause it would be awesome to have straight pipes...the louder the better.

no work would be needed for the ecm, imagine if all sportsters (which use the same engine as buells) had to reprogram the ecm. i ran my bike like that for thousands of miles. no problems. breaths ten times better in fact. you'll loose bottom end regardless of tuning or not. its like nike man, just fucking do it.

There are some pics posted recently, I'll see if I can find them. You'd def. want to re-map the ECM, it'd run lean and you wouldn't get the full advantage of the mod unless you open up the airbox also. Plus it would shorten the life of the motor over the longterm. [sad]

Here's a few I ran across:

Yeah power loss in the lower and mid-range is one of the main things that makes buell's so fun to ride. I guess you would have to ask yourself, do i want my buell to just sound mean or do you want the real deal?[confused] BTW the green buell looks great and those aren't straight pipes more like headers and megaphone.

i ran a open head for one nite once cus my jardine broke apart.it sucked like no power at all and it was just to loud to enjoy, but dont get me wrong i love loud pipes but open headers just sound shitty.

Misatos green bike posted above has a Force system on it. megaphone LOUD. little tough to tune if I remember correctly. lots of the older ones cracked apart, not sure how the newer version does.

I ran an open header for a day or two when my Jardine broke. I thought it was cool how loud (very very loud) it was. No power but sounded cool.

There are a few of the full force systems on ebay for pretty cheap. $399.99 I believe. I'm not a big fan on the looks but maybe if someone wants the headers it could be a cheaper alternative to some of the ones out there. I dont know, just my thoughts.

Does anyone have a picture of some straight pipes on their bike?

These are 2 1/2 sickpipes with torq cones inserted. I really didnt notice any power loss that I could tell.

The thing I did on my sportster was a step up style straight pipe. Start with a small diameter pipe and get progressively larget. You can also get slip in baffles. (I use the term loosely because it's still loud as all get-out)
