I just purchased a very nice STT with 2000miles on it, the bike was at the importer storage from 2007 until 2009 and then was sold.

after purchasing it i changed oil both holes, new air filter and new brake pads and break fluid.

Today was my first day riding it for 1 hour and i cant make the thing turn, when i counter steer before a turn the bars resisting my counter steer and want to fall in to the curve.
i did a test ride on a uly with no issues.
suspension are adjusted to factory setting tires are original 2006 (will be changed this week)

is this normal? and it is a question of getting used to it or do i have a problem :(

set up the suspension set up for you (your weight)? it makes a diff. in handling for sure.

my bike did the same thing the front tire was wore on the side didnt look and feel that bad but i put a new tire on issue gone

Tires that sat in storage for 2 years probably have an terrible flat spot, I'd invest in some new ones if your pressures are good.

What tire pressure are you running?

All is by the book, pressure and suspension (adjusted to 77-86 kg).
I do hope it is the tires although i did run with bad tires before on different bikes and never felt this kind of problems, any way i ordered a new set even before i rode it because i can not trust rubber from 2006

Long shot, but is there a steering damper on it preventing ease of motion?

Or are the steering head bearings rusted from sitting for so long?

There is no damper but now that i am thinking about it this could come from a steering issue.
I will put the bike on the lift tomorrow to check the movement from left to right without a load

Maybe if something is rong the problem hapend from 2009 to now.. I just pick up a new STT from the dealer siting since 2007 (5 years!) 1000 milles now and no issues here

Update: tires changed and the bike turns effortless
The tires were my first guess but i was scared that this was the "nature of the beast" but apparently it is not, the bike is a dream, cant wait to take it to the Alps this summer

STT steering...I test road a DUC Hyper S and the STT back to back...it was the STT countersteering that sold me on the Buell!

my guess....steering head bearings. my scg was parked for 7 weeks after a good wash...when i came back they were seized and needed to be replaced.

Just replaced the tires on the wifes new (to her) speed triple. The roads where the bike came from had a really pronounced crown (higher in the middle, lower on the sides) which wore the tires wierd. If you look straight down at your tire and it has a straight road flat spot, be sure it is even. If not it will cause hard turning toward whichever side of that flat spot is higher.
